Re: TAP / Genisys touch-screen controllers

Like you, I built my kiln for a lot less than what a similarly sized one sells for (300 EUR vs 1800, even without adding about 400 for an off the shelf controller). I used pi's a lot for a home entertainment system in the past and they crashed every now and then, at least once a week, where I have n...

Re: TAP / Genisys touch-screen controllers

Hi Adrian, I have built a controller for my kiln using an arduino, found it quite easy to code (processing based I believe), there are shields available to add wifi functionality, although I have not looked into that. Have used raspberry pi for other projects but I find them a bit unstable.. Check t...

Fuse blows at top temp

I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue. My kiln is self built, it has been running for a few months now in the basement. Two days ago, for the first time, blew the fuse when it was at the top temperature (740 C/1360 F) for its firing. I replaced the fuse (an old screw type fuse), thinking it...

Re: Bowl Slumping Questions

Just an idea, might it help to make a drop ring of equal size to the outer edge of the mold and put your glass on that for support as it starts to slump? Then it would probably not slide.

CCE WOOL

I was wondering if any of you have experience with this brand, it is a Chinese manufacturer of ceramic fibre blanket which I want to use for insulating of a kiln. I live in the Netherlands and this is the only brand I can find locally available, so it would save a lot on international shipping cost.

Kilnbuilding

Hi all, being fairly new to this hobby and on a bit of a budget, I'm looking to build a kiln myself. Would I be able to use heating elements from washing machines/dishwashers? Does anyone know what material these are made of? All practical issues like wiring/control aside, are they able to reach fus...
