It was Mimi!!! That's who had the studio disaster! My goodness - Joseph, and anyone else worried about storage for glass, read this thread: http://www.warmglass.com/cgi-bin/wgarchive3.pl?read=57417 I came across that thread a couple of months ago, but couldn't find a follow-up thread. Does anyone k...

Steel Blue and SuperSpray

I have a 15" round steel blue disk fired that matured into silver, which is what I wanted. I now have to put the design on top and fire that. I noticed some devit flakes in the silver and my question is if I use SuperSpray over this silver, will I lose any of the silver color? The silver does n...

Not sure if this is directed at me, but I want to clarify that PacMix Color is NOT concrete. It's a fine powder that's used to color concrete.

I use DAP 1012 for my windows. I mix it with turpentine until it's the consistancy of a thick shake, add some black PacMix Color for Concrete. I use a brush to swirl it around the window to make sure it gets under the lead. Works really well. I've never had a window leak.

I have a sample of the unfused color. It's a greenish medium amber. And it's as underwhelming in person as in the picture. I can't wait to see what can be done with it, I'm sure someone here can make it beautiful.

For my grinder and Taurus saw I bought 3 acrylic 12"x16" sheets and duct taped them together to make a screen around the sides and back. My intent was to hinge them together so they would fold up, but used the duct tape in the interim. This was 1.5 years ago and the duct tape has held up s...

Tried the magnet, didn't stick. I'm sure it's stainless, but comparing it to a stainless bowl I've used for slumping that hasn't peeled, it's a lot thinner. I'm guessing it's a poorer quality of stainless. What really gets me is I paid $14 for each bar tray and it's probably $0.50 of stainless that'...

I've been using these for pattern bars http://www.artglass1.com/fuseWEB/pattern-bar-2.jpg and have noticed peeling. I use ThinFire as a barrier so luckily it's not getting on the glass. But I was wondering what was causing it. I'm also wondering how many more uses I'll get out of them before they fa...

and the new silver sharpie is the worst... it takes a solvent to get it off, and any left behind fuses into the glass leaving a silver mark... maybe it can be used for design elements. Tony I used the silver Sharpie to mark on BE gold purple. To clean the glass I put it in extremely hot soapy water...

Jackie - How did you get the bubbles in between the glass? Or is that a secret? 8-[ I, unfortunately, don't have a problem getting the bubbles between the glass , but I'm not sure how one would go about doing it on purpose and in a uniform design.

They are all beautiful, BTW.

Hi Indigo, I haven't used noodles but I have used a stringers a lot. One of the problems with stringers is to prevent them from rolling around on the project, or kiln shelf. What I do to prevent this is to grind one side of the stringer flat. To do this press the stringer against a grinder bit with...

I was getting my bubbles with dried shelves, but not cured. I would put the kiln wash on, let dry a day or two, then fuse. Now I put the kiln wash on, let dry, then pre-fire. I don't know if I have to let it dry before I pre-fire, but I have a good thing going right now and I don't want to mess it u...
