Creatorsoutlet.com seems like a nice site and certainly seems cheap! I have requested more info from them. Does anyone have any opinions about designerjewelryshowcase.com? They have been after me for a couple of years now, a beautiful publication and nice website -- but really expensive. Any comment...

Thanks Jackie,
I do have hopes someday of doing some larger pieces. I have made a few tiles in the hot box and really enjoyed the process. I need a bigger kiln!!!
All the best-

Still rather a newbie here -- let me ask an unartistic question: What kind of electric bill do you have?? I am in Southern Calif. Though I would love to do some of this type of work (right now I just make jewelry in a Hot Box) -- I can't imagine what the electric costs would be for making pieces tha...

Gluing glass to fabric

A friend is wanting to stretch her artistic wings by making wall hangings. She would like to add small pieces of fused glass. What would be the best glue to use? The glass pieces would be about an inch square.
Thanks!

Lucky you! From experience I know that I always wish I would have bought more -- seeing the glass in person is so much better than buying from a catalog/internet. I have kicked myself sometimes for not getting something I saw and liked -- so go for it!!

Fine silver works good too. If I am making dangles, with a loop at the top to attach the finding, I hammer flat the small amount that goes between the top and bottom piece of glass. I find less slipping that way. Also it comes out perfectly clean. You can get it from Rio Grande.

Speaking of various kiln shelf applications etc. I was wondering if what I sometimes do is ok -- in a hurry to get a shelf ready I have coated it with BE primer, pop it in the microwave (6" shelf) for 2 mins. Then take a blow dryer to finish it off. I have never had a problem with this method a...

Hi Chae, With the galleries I'm presently in I have walked in some, shown my work, gone through the jury process etc. Two I sent emails with jpegs attached followed by more writte...

Geri, Are you saying that I shouldn't email a gallery to see if they might be interested in carrying my work? Is it going to be like the "Do Not Call" list ? And I know "they" - most galleries - don't like "cold call" -- so what is one to do??? :? I don't do shows and I...

Depending on how deep the bubble is I sometimes grind down and break the surface of the bubble, sometimes add frit then refire. Not sure if others do this, but it has worked for me.

I am new at this posting stuff, but just wanted to add my 2 cents on this subject. I sell only jewelry and my sales are only slightly down here in Calif. But they did very well back East this year. I sell wholesale or consignment to galleries. I just got off the phone with Studio 41 in Benicia and L...
