Re: Printer questions for decals

If you haven't already purchased a printer. HP 4000 series will work, just be sure to purchase high quality dark printing toner. Not a Remanufactured one.
This model has the highest iron content in the toner.

Re: A new tool for drawing with powder or fine Frit

Hi Ben,

I just backed you on kickstarter so I am hoping you get your target amount. I am anxious to try the pen out. Keep us posted. I am sure there are a lot of distributors that would be interested in your pen for use with glass powders.

Re: Fixing a break

Thanks again for the advice, I am drying the mold outside for a few days as I put it on some newspaper and I could feel the moisture in the paper. In the meantime I will think about what I want to try, I told my friend there was no guarantee so I might try flattening the piece, I would have to flatt...

Re: Fixing a break

Thanks Cynthia, He gave me the plate today, I just measured it and it is 6mm thick. Looks like it was a piece of clear then frit added and clear capped. I thought there was stringers in it but there isn't. I asked him how it got broken and he said he put it in the dishwasher and when he took it out ...

Fixing a break

:?: Hi everyone, I have a business acquaintance that wants me to try and fix a broken plate/dish for him that someone else had made. It is a rectangular dish approx 6 inches wide by 12 inches long and 3/4" deep. It has an approx 1 inch lip around the plate before it begins to slump down. I have...

Re: Freeze and Fuse firing cycle

To me it sounds like you are not using enough water if they are crumbling straight away and that maybe you are not freezing them for long enough. You could also try rubbing some Vaseline or some type of release agent on the molds first.

Re: Freeze and Fuse firing cycle

If you buy yourself an old electric coffee grinder you can crush what you have into powder in small batches. Just make sure you use a face mask when opening the lid and pouring out the powder. You could try looking in places like Salvation Army, Value Village depending on where you live, Walmart sel...

Re: making frit & powders?

I have been tempted to buy this Handheld frit shooter, but by the time I paid for shipping it would be well over $200 which for now I just couldn't justify. Does anyone else have one of these?

Re: Please help with shedule

First, I would recut the white base unless you want it to pull in (it will make a "lip" around the edge which might be attractive with that design, give it some dimension). It would be hard to fuse that decoration in very much without getting some pull-in. If you want it to stay the same ...

I would go to the hardware store and pick up a couple of different sample chips and try your marker on them.

Re: Please help with shedule

Vicki..... I would fire this to aroung 1410 in my kiln. Any higher and you will have problems with your single layer wanting to pull in. You will need to anneal well since there will be a difference in thicknesses. Thanks Laurie, I put it in already with a top temp of 1440 it's only up to 860 now s...

Re: Purple polka dotted kiln wash

I use the Hotline and yes I also have the purple dots that turn to streaks when you brush it on but it doesn't affect the firing. I also mix mine in a mason jar with a glass marble in the jar, when I need to use it again I just keep swirling the jar and the marble mixes the kiln wash just fine. Hope...
