I have some of Allan and Anne's protective gear as well and I agree that it's the best stuff I've seen for keeping cool. I do a lot of sand casting and I always felt rather awkward in leather, Kevlar or silver stuff. I started wearing my lumber jacket (I am assuming this isn't just a Canadian thing)...
