13" depth,,,,,HOW BIG THE PIECE

i just got access to a 13" deep kiln, the person said i would have to have a shelf on little stilts,,,,,im wondering if i made my mold, with little legs, if could avoid the shelf entirely,,,,,the lid has coils, how much space should i leave at the top,,,,,and if i make the molds, since the kiln...

The clarity of the glass is a function of temp and particle size.
Increase in either gives a more clear result.

on the elmers,,,,when getting rid of the carbon, is there a point where you can hold the temp, before the frit fuses, where all the carbon will be burned off,,,,is it necessary to open the lid in order to solve this problem

if you are going to use the pics for posting to the web,,,im pretty sure that 75 dpi is the best you can get there, so i dont think you would need to get a super high res camera,,,,i use a sony mavica, that uses floppy disks for saving the pics, i like it very much,,,1000s of pics, and no problems,,...

i just did an experiment, where i had various sizes of frit, mixed with elmers and water 50/50,,,,i fired it to 1500 and it didnt blob, there is still a texture on the top, is this normal

ON THE UNEVEN FIBER SHELF what you can do here is take the fiber shelf, all the time wearing a proper dust mask, etc,,,,,and get the belt sander, with a fine grit paper and smooth it out, once this is done, soak it with the RIGIDIZER, once it dries, go back, with a fine grit paper and sand it again...

ON GETTING RID OF THE SWIRLS

perhaps there is a palm sander that only goes back and forth and not as a swirl, if not, you could use a belt sander with the water paper, you would have to spritz the glass with water, and avoid getting water in the motor, but this could work

Another possibility is to use Acrylic Gel Medium, if you have some of that around. Mix it with some water to an elmer's glue-like consistency or even add more water. It does stink more than Klyr-Fire though. And make sure to vent your kiln to about 1000. hey there, im doing a test now on gel medium...
