I use the Skutt 1014 and the small GF10 and and really the like the quality and craftsmanship Skutt puts out. The controller is user friendly and reliable. I also use 2 older Paragons and they seem to last forever(with pins needing constant replacement) I prefer the Skutts. Check the Prices of both ...

PMC for glass fusing jewelry

I fire the pmc on a dedicated shelf or some fiber paper(1/8") and with pad of alumina hydrate if the piece is dimensional. It can be fired along with glass pieces that use the same temps. There has never been a problem with the fumes but there can be severe silver stains on the glass that follo...

Dragon Molds

Dragon Molds originaly came from Dragon Glass in South Africa. They came over and gave a workshop at C&R Loo.(they work w/ float and powders because of the expense of BE and other compatibles in S Africa) Oliver probably has a license to manufacture the Dragon designs. The molds seem to be well ...

Hi Claudia... I've used Dymax 628 for 4 years now and have had no problems w/ metal to glass. If it is applied right, the metal will tear before the bond breaks. It will cure with uv light or an activator. I use the wipe on activator most often. It does have a shelf life...I buy it in a hypodermic c...

The Silberschnitt circle cutter is wonderful!!! It is not cheap but it is a pleasure to use. It is probably the cutter you saw demonstrated at BE,and is available from the BE Connection. The small and the large models of the Silberschnitt are worth the investment if you cut a lot of circles. Also,th...

Thanks for the positive information. I think the Cutter'Mate will be a major part of the solution...Is the Morton system used in combination with the Cutter'sMate a real asset for production work?

Cutter's Mate

I have a student with carpal tunnel wrists and a weak back. She does mostly small jewelry. I think I remember some being helped by using the 'CuttersMate' system in combination with the Morton unit. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge to share before she invests in the tools.

thanks...jim

I have a set of pads from HIS Glass. I do not use them very often for my own work...but I do carry them to the classes I teach. Their portability is an asset. It is a good way to teach grits/mesh as well as have for the students to use.

Lisa...Thanks. I had not noticed the lack of a fiberglass tank. That alone tips the scale to the 2200. The old Covington is completely rusted out.
What grit belts do you find the most useful for a rough/med/fine and polish?
thanks again...jim

Wet Belt Sander...CRL GL4W

It is time for me to get serious about getting a large wbs. CRLaurence has the models discussed in the previous threads...the GL4W model (4"x106") at CRL has not been mentioned and looks interesting. I have only used much smaller Covingtons and need some advice. 1. is a built-in roller pla...

A black sharpie pen can be used as a resist. Draw a positive or negative design on the dichroic with a good black sharpie. apply the etch cream wash in water and it works! The catch is to experimennt with the amount of time that the etch cream is left on. Depending on the dichroic, the strength of t...
