HI Jerry, I just saw your pot melt at the UNE Art Gallery in Portland for the PBS Art Show. VERY NICE!!!! It happened to be the first thing I saw when I entered the gallery since they had it on display right by the door. It seemed to be attracting alot of attention. My piece was upstairs, mixed in w...

Sounds good Brad,
Now that we have a date & place set, it will be easier for alot of us to make plans. I'll look forward to more details as they become available.
Make sure to let us know if there is anything we can do to help .

I'm writing for my other half, "Demure Donna", because she is too busy pouting in the corner. [-( She probably could have walked to Chips from New Hampshire faster then her calendar is taking to get to her. Still nothing in her mailbox. It's probably with the same mail carrier that has her...

I'll go where ever the conference goes, name the date and place and I'm there. Can we have another birthday party too? I promise not to dance on the chair again (a recent physic visit told me I'd be traveling to the southwest in the early fall) As far as the Association is concerned, I'm all f...

Dani, I'd be proud to be your daughter, as long as talent runs in the family.
I think you would have been a VERY young mother though

Welcome to Maine Eliz. , well almost.
Our glass community is growing all the time. (Warm & Hot)
Email me when you get in the area and I'll help you out as much as I can. I work right in South Portland and live just a short ride down the Pike from there.
Good Luck on the move

I've done the type of draping you've described only I've offset the 2 pieces so that I have 8 points. The middle will fuse together but the 8 points will drape separately. It makes for a more interesting vase. Don't get discouraged, play with them a little, don't always put it square to the floral f...

I just fire the stringers on top of a piece, soot and all. The soot has never left a trace for me.

I just hold them IN a candle flame and they start to soften very quickly. It seems to only heat up a small section so you need to work your way down the stringer, bending and twisting as you go. It takes some practice but fun to do.

it's hard to avoid that bubble at the neck. The neck closes in before the rest of the air is forced out and a small amount gets trapped. No way to really avoid it that I know of. I think it adds a little character to it.

Is there a chance that there was some moisture left in the bottle when you put them in the kiln? Moisture = blow out
Most of the bottles I've done will have that small bubble just below the neck. No way to avoid it as far as I know.
Hope that helps

almost all of the bottles I have done will have that small bubble at the base of the neck. Not sure if there is a way to avoid it. I kind of like the way it makes a little knife rest.
