I am trying for the effect blowers get when they make a handerchief vase. I understand what you are saying and appreciate the advise. Thanks!

i have concentric ring elements in the top of my kiln but have been turning them off to do the vases. My kiln is 9" deep so the glass is very close to the top - about an inch or so. I also have to take the shelf out when I fired the vases. My top elements have a 1-10 switch. Would it work if I ...

I am using a 16" circle. When the circle starts to drop, two sides opposite each other drop first. Then after a short time, the other two sides drop. Every time I get four folds at the corners. Is it possible for the entire piece to drop at the same time? Wouldn't that create more of a ruffled ...

floral former question

I am still making the floral former lights. On the more traditional floral former it is too small to put the necessary hardware and bulb inside. Unless there is a bulb I am unaware of it seems the heat would get way too hot. I bought a SS mold (restaurant supply) with a 4" bottom and 7" si...

floral former - but bigger

I have been asked to make some lights. What I need is a mold larger than a floral former so a bulb can be put inside. What should I be looking for? Is there anything that I could use that would be ready made?

thanks

glass extruder?

I saw a fused piece in Petra Kaiser's book (the clock) that had the look of glass drizzled across the surface. It was achieved by a glass extruder. What is that and what was used to achieved that effect?

Thanks

firing schedule drop out

Bob - thanks for the information! With the heat difference in the areas of my kiln I am working on firing 3 or 4 at a time and having them all slump about the same - a challenge. I took 3 out this morning and just reloaded it moving the pieces around a little. Two were fine and the other could have ...

I am firing a 7" square with a 3" square drop out using 1" Duraboard. The Bullseye is 2 layers cut to 6 3/4". I am using 1" posts so it is dropping 2". For a 3" center drop out should I hold at a lower temperature or take it to a higher temperature? Does the smalle...

primo primer

Hi Suzan -

"Primo is designed for fusers who fire on the high end of the fusing range, specifically 1500-1550 instead of the usual 1425-1475". This is what the brochure says that I got with my primo. Combing would definitely be at the high end of the fusing range. Hope this helps. Carol
