Being ADHD helps... and hinders!. The problem is that I have tooooo many great ideas. I decided that I will only work on three projects at a time... then I end up cheating. You see, I do three projects in photography, three in glass, three in design, three in clay, and, and ,and.... Being ADHD is li...

the logo part is going to be shiney. The bottles are huge. I did a test run and it took about 15 minutes to do one. I know I can get it done in under 10 minutes once I set up the system. The masking is easy since I just apply the vinyl logo directly on the glass and rub. The vinyl holds good for the...

How to Mass Sandblast 50 Glass Vases?

I have a job that started with the client wanting 4 logo's etched into the side of wine bottles using sandblasting methods. It grew to six later on that day. The next day it grew to 38 bottles and now it has stopped at 50 bottles. Well, I am glad for the job but wanted some advice on doing so many. ...

I will grind mine off with a steel brush attached to a drill. Use a mask and eye protection. You can also use steel cleaning pads but it will take much longer. In your next fire, you can also try 110-J Fiber Paper that you can purchase on this site in the Online Catalog section. I also have found th...

To Fire polish float I take it to 400 and fire polish. BE seems to work OK stopping at 220. Bert, this seems to be a low temp? Did you mean 1400? I have never fire polished that low so I am currious if this works. Great if it does! MIke ps, like the easy bake oven photo. Do you use it as a tanning ...

Anybody ever fused plastics, acrylics, lexan, etc.

I have a project that glass is not allowed due to tradeshow rules. So I am thinking about using plastics?

Has anybody fused or sandblasted plastics before with good results?

Need a reality check on this one. 35 cfm is a MONSTER compressor, probably cost you about $10,000. For real! I read that and thought, Damn, I have never seen one that big before. Maybe he ment that the pressure pot needs to output 35 CFM? Even then, that seems high. After all, isn't that the reason...

You can use it outside provided you glaze it first. The glaze needs to be heavy and you could just use a gloss coating to retain the clay color. Otherwise, like Ron said, it will soak up the water. Be sure to glaze inside the container as well if there is a chance water will get in. Raku clay is for...

Archie,

I think Armstrong glass has introduced new colors for float glass. Maybe you could combine these colors since they have the same coe. They are made to work with float. I have not tried them but it looks promising.

Hey Archie, check the archives. There is plenty to find about the subject . I would also look in the Tutorial section for standard slumping schedules. Yours will vary depending upon your kilns environment.

Good luck!

I found that sprinkling a fine layer of sand underneath the bottles keeps them from rolling and also from sticking to the bottom. The sand seperates with ease afterwards by brushing it off with the hand. It does leave small sand marks underneath but it does not matter since its the bottm no one sees...
