Please pardon my obvious ignorance. Does this mean there will be a Warm Glass @BE in November and also a WGW in or around Washington, DC, in mid September? Whatever it turns out to be, thank you, Lani, and BE for being so kind to all of us. I want to work doubly hard on my entry so maybe I'll get a...

That was the first year Lani. Last year it was an opportunity to be mistaken for a hooker while walking over to the connection in that outfit - and of course to swipe a Gerber Daisy from you Sheesh! Of course - how'd I ever mistake a streetwalker for a cat-fight? So, how do you intend to amuse us i...

OK, from private emails I can tell I've managed to confuse a few newcomers to the board. WHAT IS/WAS WG@BE? It was/is an annual competition/exhbition of kilnformed glass that that has been co-hosted by Bullseye Glass and Brad's Warm Glass board since 2001. You can read about how the last competition...

WG@BE3 back on track for 2003
Firstly, let me say that I’m awed at Brad’s stamina at mounting yet another conference! And encouraged (as always) by the tremendous positive response from all of you on the board. Prior to Brad’s post about WGW2, he and I (and Brock) had discussed the possibility of BE hosting WG@BE3 in Portl...

This is a fascinating topic. I agree with Charlie that a good place to start is with the information (there’s lots of it) available for float glass. However, most kilnformed glass (unless created solely of float glass such as Bert is doing) is a very different beast than float. As soon as you fuse...

Cynthia, Maybe I'm not sure what you're experiencing: reds being less saturated in color in a thinner section? If so, this seems strange because a curiousity of cad/sel reds, oranges and yellows is that they DON'T reduce (or increase) in saturation like many other colors in relation to their relativ...

Wow, Patricia, that’s one glowing review! I know that Vitrum sold out Roger’s classes pretty quickly so I’m guessing that your experience has been typical and word has gotten around. About a dozen years ago while Roger was working here at Bullseye he showed me a teaching method that tremendous...

A big Thank You to everyone who has contributed to this thread. It has been immensely informative to me as we pull together BECon. If I can sum up a bit of what I got back from you all: Amy, Bert, Leslie,….Good teachers give tools and inspiration; they teach problem solving rather than tricks. Ame...

Good teaching / bad teaching
A number of people have emailed me off the board about our upcoming conference for teachers. Many had some really interesting ideas about what is needed in the way of teaching within our community. Many also relayed both good and bad experiences. I found the stories truly enlightening and wished som...

Hi Sara, I'm finally back in the wet-n-windy Northwest and am comparing notes with our crew who went to Vegas for Glass Craft Expo while my team was in South Florida. You're right, of course, GCE was buzzing and the excitement was largely about smaller work, but still largely dominated by kilnformin...
