Re: Glass Glue

There are many, many threads on this in the archive. You may want to start here: http://www.warmglass.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=829 - Paul I have not been able to find the perfect way to bond a silver bail to the back of a fused glass pendant. Can someone suggest a type of glue or epoxy that works b...

CarolB, When I took Karen Reed's class on Surface Design of fused glass, she said most paint wouldn't adhere to glass unless you sandblasted or etched the surface first. This would remove the slick surface and you might have better luck. Alecia Thanks for the suggestion, Alecia. I do not have a san...

Try this -- it is one of the techniques I teach in my Frits and Powders class here in Austin: 1) Spray some hairspray onto a piece of paper. Construction paper works well. 2) Use the hair-spray-on-paper like an ink pad to "ink" your rubber stamp. 3) Stamp onto the glass. If you can sand bl...

Re: Ruth Brockmannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Try searching for Ruth Brockmann -- that second "n" will make a difference. There's no definitive site, but there are a lot of places with one or two photos of her work. Thanks Brad - that helped a lot. Curious - which is the correct spelling? Pismo has it with one "n" and I tho...

Ruth Brockman art photos?

I was describing some of Ruth's frit casting work that I saw when I was in Portland for the first WGW. I wanted to show them a pic but couldn't find one anywhere. In fact the only examples of her work I could find were some of her masks at Pismo's site. Anyone have any ideas for places to look (that...

The problem that I can't quite figure out the solution for though is what to do when you only put out 20 or 25 pieces a year? This begs the question - why do you create art? Someone who creates art because it fills a need somewhere deep in their psyche might be fine with 20-25 pieces a year. They m...

<snip> Incidentally, the images are not digitals. <snip> This leads to a related question. Should technique impact value (price)? Creating a darkroom composite is a more difficult thing than doing it in Photoshop. If two techniques yield indecernable results then should/could the artist price the w...

After the past few years working with glass I am finally starting to hear my own voice emerge from from din of "inspiration" So many things inspire me that little of what I created has a coherent voice I feel is my own. When I mentioned this to someone they asked what I meant by "voic...

I know you've put a huge amount of thought into how to finish this one. You have my admiration for taking the risk to do something so wonderfully unexpected.

It definitely paid off :) The piece is awesome.

Really spectacular Doug.

It always facinates me to see an artist's work evolve -- and yet remain cohesive with previous work.

Thanks for sharing -- and by all means keep driving up the value of your work

Have you tried emailing Graham? The email address in the front of the book is stoneg@melbpc.org.au.

(btw Amy - I hadn't been to your site recently. I like you newest work a lot. Intriguing and distinctive.)

Unglazing a mold?

Has anyone ever taken a glazed ceramic piece and sandblasted off the glaze in order to use it as a mold?

Thanks,

Today I picked up some 3/8 float.

Any tips on getting the score to run?

The torch is waiting :)

Btw, the UV light arrived yesterday. I was happily suprised to see just how obvious it is to detect the tin side.

I am inexperienced with mica powders but I´ve read that they do not show up well on a clear or light background. Are these colors just frit powders? They are truely vibrant! Did you use an airbrush to apply and blend the colors somewhat? I love the work! It is inspirational! Thanks, Kim Thanks Kim...

I also would like to know whether it would be OK to tack fuse stringers of any kind to something like float.
