Thanks Brock - I think I am going to buy it. I think I've thought everything through, and even have had the electrician out, but I'm wondering....is something like this too good to be true!?? I mean, this kiln is literally less than 1/3 the price of it new. Well we'll just have to see. Wish me luck :D

Used kiln from flea market - what trouble to look for?

Yet again, I'm asking for input from the warmglass discussion board. Tonight I'm going to look at a used 28" Jen-Ken that someone is selling for 1/3 the price. The catch: he bought it from a flea market and has never plugged it in b/c he never ran power for it. Supposedly everything looks good ...

Really nice stuff! Very impressed with the thumprint and the bar tiles. Take some pictures when you use them.

What did you use to finish your pieces? Their edges look so nice.

Switching to 6-30 plug for kiln

Hi warmglass users - I'm having difficulty determining how to proceed with solving my electrical needs in order to purchase a kiln. Our house has a 220 line going to it for the air conditioner and the dryer, but no plug in the area where we're going to keep the kiln. An electrician gave us an estima...

Bert - I'm new to fusing gold into glass. You mean you can paint on the luster and then fuse it into the glass, or are you saying to fuse first and pain on the luster after? Do you have any product recommendations for the luster? I want to start including gold in my fusings/castings. Thanks, -Stepha...

To answer a few questions: I'm buying either a skutt 814 or 1014, so about a 22" (inside) kiln. The cars are late 50's...one's a jaguar and one's an MG. Both have finished body work and beautiful paint jobs that I don't want to risk. Neither of them get a lot of attention currently. The MG runs...

Kiln near classic cars?

I'm buying my first kiln and have a question about placement. We've asked every dealer we've talked to, and they all say that you can place it wherever you want as long as you leave about 18" clearance around the kiln from anything flammable. The garage, where we've decided to put the kiln, has...

Thanks, everyone, for your useful information. I basically needed the scoop on these brands... I've sort of gotten used to consumer reports and epinions.com before making major purchases. I'm going to keep researching and getting information. Please feel free to respond to this or PM me with any mor...

Hello all- I'm about to buy my first kiln and have done a lot of research online and in local stores. Now I want the warmglass bulleting board users' opinions. Give me any information, pros, cons, etc. about Jen-Ken, Skutt, and Paragon kilns. The three models I'm looking at are about equivalent...so...

Buying first kiln...HELP!!!

Please give any advice you can. I'm buying my first kiln and I really don't want to pick the wrong one. I've been researching online, but need some advice and answers. A little about me: I have been taking glass classes for about three years, and want to start doing work at home. I am looking for a ...
