Re: Ooops!

Thanks for all of the suggestions, folks. I just realized I left out something important. LOL. This guy charged his purchase to his credit card. If I didn't allow him to return it, my understanding is that all he has to do is dispute the charge with the credit card company and I won't get paid. the...

restocking fee.

some electronics stores will charge 15% to do a takeback if nothing's wrong with it. seems they do this with large screen tv's right around super bowl time, for some odd reason. home depot did it for generators just after y2k hit, for another odd reason.

I use two types of wire around the core mould , I start by wrapping galvanized bird wire around the mould this is held in place with 2mm copper wire finally covered with the outer mould mix...Colin one shouldn't use galvanized anything in a kiln. it produces both deadly gases, and probably does dam...

why not use 2 layers of clear 1/8" and 1 layer of transparent yellow 1/8" fused together? seems that would be easiest.

Re: Ah. Carp!

Well, I tried a different server to upload the images and still just a little red x, which might be interesting if you are into red x's but only makes me say "D'oH!". If anyone knows of a FREE upload site that will share images, me so happy. i use http://communities.msn.com . they allow d...

anyone have one and willing to give me a review of it?

in particular, how easy is it to change belts? sturdiness? usability?

thanks in advance

i'm confused about this whole issue. imho, i think people are confusing the medium and the contents. if you have something to say, then say it. if people are not finding it, then perhaps the tool is deficient, but the medium isn't forcing people into commenting less, changing their thoughts, or othe...

i'd try popping it into the freezer or the dishwasher on a hot water rinse cycle. the difference in coe's should pop it right off.

you could always suspend it on posts in the kiln and heat up. sooner or later it'll come off.

How much is 10 pounds of glue? $50? $100? That's not quantity in terms of how wholesalers view it.

:?: Your original post changed from when I first responded to it, unless I'm losing my marbles...it's possible. Frankly, even if you found someone to order the glue, then paid the shipping and paid again to get it shipped to you, and made it somehow worth their effort to place the order for you, yo...

what's different about glass guild bylaws than any other group who has bylaws? they could be almost identical, except for a few small specific clauses. perhaps you might want to look around at other local groups that have been around for a number of years.

you have to fuse them either together or on something first. you can then clearcap it in another firing. if you do both together, you'll most probably get massive bubbles from trapped air.

i'm not sure i buy this rumour. the act of grinding/cutting causes a lot of localized heat anyway, far hotter than just using water that is warmer. i can perhaps see if it the water is closer to boiling, since it won't be able to remove the excess heat that the operation is performing, but i can't s...

you just need a thin coating of borax, and soaking doesn't do much good since it probably sheets off when you remove it from the soak. also, drying it is not good either. i find spraying it on with an atomizer works well. you have to put a little bit of dish shoap inthe water (just a drop or two) to...

You might get a sheet of 3/4 plywood, cover the bottom with a carpet scrap in a similar color as the berber (to avoid any color transfer possibility) and tile the top to place the kilns on. This will help in keeping the carpet clean and give a non flamable surface top side. If you make it big enoug...
