Does Anyone Here Work With Silver Clay?

Good morning. I might have a couple small jewelry projects involving silver clay but don't have a kiln to fire them. Was wondering if someone here would be willing to fire a piece or two for a fee. 45 min @ 1600f. I would send via USPS.

PM me.

Thanks

1mm & 2mm Dichroic Stringers

Hello Everyone

Been awhile since I last post here.

I may be wrong but didn't Bullseye used to sell clear and black 1mm & 2mm dichroic stringers in different colors? Did they discontinue this for some reason? Am looking for a source.

Re: copper wire turning black
What tony said. The borax turns to glass and protects the wire. Make the solution as strong as you can. You can also use water to dissolve the borax. Hot water and keep adding borax until no more will dissolve. The other Jim
This is called a super saturated sol...

Annealing Pattern Bars

Hi Everyone: I am thinking about a project involving a form of pattern bars. The piece will be roughly 4 1/2" long- 1 1/2" high" - 1 1/4" wide. According to the complicated Bullseye schedule, the whole process from start to finish is 23 1/2 hours.(firing and annealing) Since this...

PMC for Glass Fusing Jewelry

Terry: I've heard two stories about using PMC in a kiln. One is true and the other is apparently a myth. It's true there can be some discoloration between PMC and certain colored glasses. That's a fact and should you decide to get into PMC -I'm sure there's plenty of information on which colored gla...

PMC for Glass Fusing Jewelry

Hi Terry: I too am interested in PMC. There is a good bulletin board at
Yahoo Groups called "Metal Clay". While this board may not be as active as WGBB- there is still a great deal information on it and the members are just as helpful.

The courts are already over burdened with cases. Unless you want to make a lawyer rich- go ahead and sue. Your idea itself is a variation
that goes back quite a long ways. The difference is- it's in glass.

Hi Judith: Have the new catalogs come out yet? They said they would be out by the end of the month. I'm looking forward to them.

While the material may be different- the procedure remains the same.

Mold Mix 6

Hi: Who on the board uses Mold Mix 6 for casting molds? I am thinking about making a mold for jewelry using this. As you know- this is an expensive material and the only way it would make any sense is if it withstood repeated firings. This won't be for slumping but for casting. Anyone have any opini...

Obsidian Glass

Obsidian glass is essentially silica with Magnesium and Iron as impurities.
This explains the high melting point.

On the Internet - there are numerous free online tutorials on the subjects of Wire Wrapping - PMC - Silversmithing, ect. Is anyone aware of similar tutorials on the subject of Warm Glass? Float Glass

Bert: I did start going through the archives but it probably would have taken two weeks to find the links. There are so many threads.

I take it "float glass " is simply a generic term. It could apply to any glass made by the "float" process initially.

Float Glass

As someone who new to the board and glass fusing in general. the term
"float glass" keeps popping up. I went to the archives to try and find out what it is- to no avail. Can somebody give me a definition?

Popping Bubbles

Paul; Personally I don't think it will work. What will probably happen is the hole will collapse onto itself and plug up again. You may shrink the bubble just a little bit, every time you drill a hole, but you will never get rid of it entirely. I doubt if too many other members have attempted it eit...
