Thanks, Brad... Ameritools didn't have the info on its site, and was to antsy to wait for them to email me.
Hope all is well with you guys.

Ameritools arbor size

Anybody know the arbor size of the Ameritools 4-inch trim saw? Debating with myself about getting the Ameritools, or the good ol' Tiny Trim for $100 less. I got my old Tiny Trim used for $35 years ago... but it's totally kaput now. But, I'd like to use my 1/2-inch blades if possible. So, Ameritools ...

Fave cost-effective places to buy silicone carbide belts, 4 x 106? The Oregon co, Sattex, I used to order from when I shared a belt-sander-equipped studio has dropped its abrasives line. As I recall, their prices were pretty reasonable. HIS is something like $45 for a box of five 60-grits ($9/each)....

Hey everyone..... thanks for all the input, including PMs. And it's great to see ya'll again, since I'm rarely here anymore. The woman here came down in her price & I couldn't resist. Works great, and is only 5 minutes from my house. Great idea, Marty, to commission Guy.... hadn't thought of som...

Yep, know how much they are new. Where are you, that they're $250? That sounds like a parallel universe.

Somaca price

Just looked at a used Somaca belt sander. It's in my neighborhood, so no shipping costs. works good, good water system, needs no work. some rust. owner's not sure of the age. She asked $1400 for it, says she bought it 2 years ago for $1600. Says she doesn't thing she can go below $1200. (I offered h...

I make a lot of torched freeform elements for my portraits - sometimes they get very 3-D. So when things are just too tangled I take my elements and slump them flat - usually on a kiln shelf under  my firing shelf - this way I don't take a separate firing just for these elements. -Terry O. I found this message in the archive. Kinda hard to read, almost like a foreign language :? I'm intrested in doing patterned devit in combination with textural applications on the underside(float glass). I like the vit's iridescent sheen under strong directional lighting, and the velvety feel, espec...

Barbara, thanks for pointing me to Cline's. Travis also mentioned it. With two recommendations I am going to head up there. I had looked at their website, but with no prices posted I didn't really know how they were, so I appreciate the information. I am new to glasswork and I think I am hooked. I ...

Like Kate, I have one of the 1st 1414s. I also went thru the problem phases with it --- with Mike, Perry & Mike (The Skuttettes) holding my hand all the way. I've had 2 major upgrades/fixes all at no charge, and Skutt picked up & delivered. And, when I moved my kiln recently, I lost the stru...

Billets are something new from Bullseve. /quote]
Don't forget that Uroboros and Spectrum have been making billets (COE 90 and 96) for quite a while. You can check out their products on their sites (see above...both are WG.com sponsors).
