i love the dingle peninsula, my wife and i went biking around there for a while a few years back. i don't think i saw that church though, as we didn't spend much time in dingle proper. i'm not sure i'll make it out that way this trip, but i'm sure someday i will :) it will be interesting to see what...

i've never tried it, but i thought about making a wavy mold and slumping thin strips on it, then offsetting every other piece by half of the wavelength, and feeding straight strips through crosswise, then tack fusing the whole thing.

it might work :)

is that a guinness for each of you? how many members on the board? ;) we actually have a private showing of the book of kells with the conference one night, very cool! especially since much of my glass work involved celtic themes. i'll take a printout of all these suggestions, and see what i can squ...

thanks for all the suggestions! stuart, i think i heard something about that guy that uses the green bottles too, can't seem to find anything on him though. i'll ask around when i get there, or maybe email pangur brown. i've seen a site for abbie dixon in belfast too. the little mini-waterford type ...

i bought one two weeks ago, and i love mine, and have heard they have great customer support. one major factor in the decision for me was that they are loca to me, and can make any repairs needed without shipping it anywhere. the lid is quite heavy, and could be awkward for doing combing or other in...

yep, steve is right, just leave it in there a bit longer. i'm playing with lots of variations on drop rings and trying to control how they fold, ill post a link to a page describing my results when i feel ive done enough (probably a few weeks). using extra pieces fused onto the edges can affect the ...

it's entirely possible.

you could do a test strip with 90 COE clear and the unknown to test it's compatibility with a polarized lens, or perhaps just put a pendant in the freezer overnight, then toss it in the dishwasher and see if it lasts through that.

definitely best to test first!

this is a great to have a summary of the safety issues available! ive been debating what steps to take first in making my studio a safe one, and this list helps me a lot. is the kiln wash you scrape off after firing just "nusiance dust", or do i need to take it outside, wear a respirator, ...

perhaps the extra gap is the cause for their name... they are so good they "even heat" your studio while you are firing ;)

i've actually changed tack a bit. im fusing up six small circles of double thickness in my little kiln, as soon as they are ready i'm going to tack fuse them to a larger circle, spaced evenly around the edge of the circle. i'm hoping that the evenly spaced extra weight will disrupt the natural tende...

i havent tried it yet, but i was thinking of cutting two triangles and overlapping them to form a hexagon on the former, hoping to get 6 points instead of four. if that works, i was thinking of trying a series of isoceles but not equilateral triangles to get even more points, but still have them ext...

i just put my thumb and forefinger together, then slide them on either side of the glass til i feel the score with my forefinger, hold my thumb still while i rest the glass on the pad, and then start the pressure. after it's started, i can normally just follow it along around.

Did she copy the work? I don’t know. It is possible to have two people in different locations come up with the same design and name at the same time. I have had this happen to me with an engineer in Japan. When it does happen it all comes down to dates (who came up with it first). Keep good recor...

ive had the 1414 for just over 48 hours now, finally got the 220v line rigged up and ran the element seating firiing last night. so i haven't played with it yet. i was leaning towards something taller to give me more 3d space to play with, but the first commission i have i want to do as a set of 30&...

i use my old junky blender to make frit. it does pretty well, though it takes patience if you want powder...

also, huge plumes of glass dust rise up when you open it... definitely need a good mask!
