I don't see it as a major privacy issue; I'm not collecting lots of names and I'm not sending out tons of junk. It's rare to be turned down when I ask a browser if they'd like to be on my mailing list. And I do keep the addresses from checks and I do ask for them with credit cards. And I don't share...

Lauren- you can try for 60:40 but most galleries will want 50:50. Galleries that get by on a 40% markup are either fooling themselves, not doing what they're supposed to do, or just lucky IMHO. I wouldn't change the terms that you've got printed up- but you may have to think of them as a bargaining ...

Lauren- You've got your work, you've set the price you need to get (wholesale)- are you consigning or selling? If consigning, you need an agreement, might only be a letter to be signed by both of you stating that the work belongs to you until sold, the retail price and the percentage you will get, w...

I'm not buying it- someone comes into your house and barfs over that painting on the wall that you were really fond of? Even if it's a big-eyed waif with a puppy on velvet, I don't care. Go out of earshot and snicker if you must (and I have) but be polite. Find the gallery that works for you, or go ...

Now that I've gone to acid etching I can agree with Paul, that it does seem like cheating. But before the acid, I was buying armorall in the BIG bottles and marvelling how it covered sins and brought the color back up after sandblasting. I didn't really start to worry about giving customers care-and...
