Re: Kiln wash
I am firing Spectrum together to fuse completely - two pieces, bringing the temp to 1415 degrees. I have several small pieces in the kiln on a newly kiln washed surface, sprayed several layers & dry. Almost all the pieces have kiln wash stuck to them, except two which are larger than the others...

Satellite Unique Lead Free Opaque Glass Enamels
I've been playing with the Satellite/Unique lead free enamels the last couple of days, trying to get the hang of it, and am having some problems. I'm not sure if it's the way I'm applying the enamels or if its the enamels themselves. Here's the problems I've been having. In the instructions, it says...

Apparently you do...LOL. Here's the link to the board. It's working but there's nothing on it as I type this.

I just checked out the Aftosa site. They no longer sell the tables that I bought from them. However, here are links to 2 different table styles that they do sell on their site.

There's an explanation of what's happened to that board on the PACA board. Here's a link to the PACA board.

Someone who frequents that board called them and asked what's going on. I believe it was LuAnne Udell.

Luiza - I wore contact lenses when i was in my early 30's, before I started doing glass work. Even though I had the soft, extended wear lenses and worked in an office environment, after a couple of years I had problems with eye irritation. Finally, I stopped wearing contact lenses and started wearin...

Are micas food safe?
I looked through the archives and the old archives for an answer to this question and didn't find one. Did anyone ever gget a definitive answer as to whether micas are food safe or not? I'm playing with PearlEx micas and want to know if they're food safe, so I can label them properly. Thanks - Geri

I'm surprised more people haven't responded to this. What I've been hearing from many artists on the circuit is that sales are down this year. People who buy are mostly buying inexpensive items. My jewelry sales have also been strong this year. Even when economic times are tough, people still want s...
