I used to make glass fan pulls that were $10 each or 3 for $25. These were nice, unique, handmade (albeit inexpensive) glass items - and yes I had a big sign hanging over them. People would stop, fondle them, and come into my booth to "shop". I can't tell you how many times I was handed a...

Hey all, thanks for the suggestions. Here's an update in the event this ever happens to any of you. I just got off the phone with GlaStar about the grinder problem. Since my grinder is still under warranty, they're sending me a new switch. If that doesn't fix the problem, I'll have to mail it to the...

Heh! I forgot that someone actually asked me that at the show over the weekend. I've never been asked that before. Too funny.

I apply it with a .5" artist's paint brush, move it around to get a unifrom coat, let the excess drip off, wipe off the back to make sure none has gotten on it and fire.

Here are some suggestions.... Use a cut piece piece of glass to scrape it off... Use a piece of wall board sanding paper and lots of elbow grease to sand it off. Go outside, wear a respirator, and use a hand size power sander and sandpaper to sand it off. Get it damp and scrape the kilnwash off with...

I also can't see the piece, but I suspect that if you do this, if it actually works, if nothing else, the surface will not be the same as the original. You'll have to do alot of cold-working to get it back the way it was.

Coping with "artist abuse" at shows

I just finished going a show over the weekend. It was in an upscale community, with an appreciative audience. Most of the questions I got were intelligent and thoughtful. I love this kind of show! My next-door neighbor at the show and I had some time to chat about shows in general, which prompts thi...

It sounds to me like maybe your pyrometer is giving you incorrect readings... After you fuse for a while without a pyrometer, which was how I learned, you can tell by peeking at the glass by it's color and appearance. If the top temp you're taking it to now is 1350 by the pyrometer, try dropping bac...

For years I showed my sterling/glass jewelry in these tacky cases meant for baseball cards...really awful. The tops are plastic and were constantly getting scratched no matter how carefully I handled them. But i was selling my jewelry. Last year, I invested in a $1100 case...very classy and upscale ...

Oh well. We'll have to leave it to some other willing soul...Or maybe someone will turn it into a reality TV show on Fox. LOL.

Glad to hear you're busy. It must mean sales are good.

Brock, I didn't post for a long time because I was having problems with my antiquated computer and software. I posted about it when Brad asked if he should change the format of the board a while back. About a week and a hafl ago, David and i got a new computer which just screams on the InterNet and ...

Brock, I tried to find it, too, before I responded to you and couldn't. I think it was in a thread that got deleted because of other content. I wish that if you had been so insulted by what I said, you would have told me so then instead of waiting until now. We could have cleared it up back then. Geri

Doug, you can be as silly as you like here. I don't mind silliness in the least. As you may recall, I can be pretty silly myself sometimes on boards. But I've never liked watching people take potshots at each other on boards, even in the old days. When this happens, I get complaints from other reade...

Yes, sigh, the old days are gone. I miss them, too, Doug. We had alot of fun being very silly and off color back then.

Brock, I wrote that message using my piece as an example of how people aren't always aware of how long it takes someone to make something. I would have used someone else's piece as an example, but since I wasn't there when they were making it, I couldn't. I didn't intend my comment to be a potshot a...

Brock and Dani, stop taking potshots at each other or I will lock this thread.

If you need to fight with each other, please do it via email and not on this board.

Thank you.
