Re: Opinions re: 6.5" deep kiln models

Thanks Brad. I was worried that if I bought the 19" one with the 6" height, I would eventually be disappointed.
Appreciate you helping me with this. I will go for the GL24.
I know i'll be happy.

Re: Opinions re: 6.5" deep kiln models

Brad, thx for reply. The one I'm considering is Paragon's 19". coils in fiber lid, 6.5" deep. Only top coils, no sides. https://www.paragonkilns.com/collections/glass/products/fusion-19 . If someone like you were to have an opinion between 2 kilns, then my alternate is spend a lot more and...

Re: Opinions re: 6.5" deep kiln models

I should have said no drop outs, etc. i’m pretty experienced, but the 6.5” depth gave me pause for thought since my former kiln was much deeper. I think I’ll pass on this model. Ive got two others Im looking at, but much more $$. Thx fir answering me.

Opinions re: 6.5" deep kiln models

I need to buy a new kiln, looks like 2nd hand not going to happen. The kiln I used for years was a big Glass Glow, probably 10" or 12" deep. The ones I've looked at online in the $2000 price range are only 6.5" deep. I've never had a kiln that shallow, and wonder, is there anything sp...

Re: Gloves for Cyclone 3824

A friend showed me her style, and talked to me about the fit, which will be much better in the hand. I'm just checking on the diameter of the part that fits onto the hole in the blast cabinet. http://www.kmstools.com/mod-u-blast-sandblasting-gloves-3618 Mod-U-Blast is a Canadian company, but I have ...

Re: Gloves for Cyclone 3824

Charlie, Usually I'm pretty good at finding items online, but not the gloves for some reason. THANK YOU for the links, very useful info! As Rick pointed out, the thinner material really helps feel the project, and handle it more carefully. One of the pairs you linked to looks very promising.

Re: Gloves for Cyclone 3824

Hi Rick, I should have said that I believe the suction feature of this style of unit needs the gloves to be more air tight. Before i cut off hands, when you turned the blaster on, the gloves came to life and shot out stiffly, so a little vacuum created in cabinet? After I cut the hands off, I did ru...

Gloves for Cyclone 3824

Hi all, my Cyclone came with gloves about the right size for The Hulk. I've been muddling along with them for much too long, and have had no luck finding a substitute online. Have checked personally in Lowe's and Home Depot, and online randomly, and specifically at Harbor Freight. No luck. I don't h...

those pens in the picture are the ones i have. for what i was doing, the wide one was too wide ... the stuff seemed to widen when fired, so the thinner line seemed preferable for what i was drawing. i am stubbornly sticking to my assertion that putting this stuff inside a conventional pen is not a g...

i only used thinfire for a short while, when i was having problems with large bubbles forming under my glass. i had the same experience of it tearing because of the glass moving. i used two sheets of it a few times, which worked. i only left a margin of about an inch around the perimeter of my piece...

terms need to be spelled out in an consignment agreement before goods are given to a store. it pays to drop into stores that have goods on consignment, and see how things are going. there has to be a reasonable time-frame within which sales are expected, or the goods must be returned. stores that ta...

i agree with nancy. whatever "burgundy" means, that range is achieved with cranberry as a base, and sometimes with BE gold/purple as the base, then one of these CBS colors, on clear: dark dark red, black cherry, or dark red. if you put a little overlay of neo-lavender on top, it will be a ...

pretty much in agreement with some of dennis brady's remarks. i've been at it for about 7 years, and have not worked a part-time job -- IMO it's not feasible to work full-time building a business, and go somewhere else during the day and spend time & energy on another enterprise. the first 2 yea...

i think i know what you mean. what i'm thinking of is one loop about the size of a nickle, and an interior one that is smaller, with the 2 connected at the top, and the piece of glass hanging inside. i dont buy that part, but ive seen it, so try rings n things, fire mtn gems, and rio grande. good lu...

buy dichro on clear, not black.
if you want black substrate, cut the base from black, and put dichroic on clear on top of the black.

i dont think about those things in the way you have described. i think about what's reasonable, what's happening in the marketplace where the store is, and i price accordingly. in my opinion, it's not possible to connect the dots between cost of glass, wear and tear on equipment, and the resulting v...
