Kiln carving question
Hello all, Question. Is it better to pre fire a blank ie 2 3mm clears together first before setting it on the fibre paper or can the the two blanks be fired over the paper in one step? Also, does anyone have a fool proof schedule for both 96 and bullseye getting fine details? Thanks in advance, Peter

Peacock texture mold
I am having some eruption bubble troubles. One was over the peacocks head, another was lower and to the right. I have fired several times with similar results. In fact, I am 0 for 4. I am using spectrum 96 DT as the blank. Used the firing schedule on creative paradises website. Have raised the mold ...

Re: Getting indentations
Bert, You are probably right. Unfortunately, the mold might be the problem as previously stated. The mold I am using is exactly that one and the indentations might not be deep enough to carve the appropriate amount. Oh well, there's $25 down the drain. Can heat and hold overcome a poorly made mold? ...

Re: Getting indentations
Thanks Kevin. Was hoping someone climbed the mountain first and knew the way. Does leaving it on mold and retiring at longer time and temp work or start with new fused blank?

Getting indentations
Question to the experts ou there. I have the large radial slumper with the indentations around the outside. I just slumped a two layer system 96 bowl on the slumper. I slumped at 1225 for a 25 minute hold. The indentations are light rather than deep around the border. Would a higher temperature or a...

Silkscreen ink for fused glass
Was wondering what everyone uses to print images on glass using silkscreening? It can be either before fusing or post fusing whichever one works best. Any thoughts? Also is there a definitive formula for the amount of oil per glass powder ratio that works best for screenprinting? You guys are the be...

Glass Decals
Okay here's the deal. I am looking for a company that prints either black, white, gold and silver fusabled decals. I need some text printed that can be cut out and then fused to glass. I know there are companies that do large runs. Are there any that could print 5 sheets for a reasonable price. This...

Re: Fusing segment help
I normally slump most molds to 1210 hold 15 minutes. The Seder plate mold has deeper holes and I know it's more than 1220 but not sure how much to not distort the bottoms of the indentations.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Fusing segment help
I am in the process of slumping a Passover Seder plate on the ceramic mold and for the life of me I can't find my notes on slumping temp etc. I know I wrote it down but of course I can't remember where I put the darn thing. Can anyone help me with the process?
Thanks in advance,
Peter Brown

sizing help
Does anyone have the Craig Mitchell smith floral former from delphi? The video states each petal is 6 inches. When placing the petals in the kiln, they don't fit. My kiln is a skutt hot start. Can the petals be made smaller? Will they still fit the mold? Does anyone know of someone who rents kiln sp...

kiln size
charlie or whom it may concern
am i going on the inside dimensions of the kiln to determine the size mold that will fit. for instance a 16 in shelf. would that enable me to slump a 11 x 3.5 in bowl etc.
thanks

Lohman, thanks for the response. Is there such a thing that accomplishes both? With a front or side door but big enough to slump the items I mentioned? Not sure what size shelf is needed to accomodate these sized slumping molds. No math wiz since I am a national radio host and can't add. Also what p...

Kiln Purchase
I am thinking of purchasing a glass kiln that would have capability for annealing bead work and slumping plates, platters and bowls around the 11x 3.5 for bowls, 9in to 11 in for plates etc. Is there a kiln that people recommend for both beads and slumping? I have no idea what size is needed for thi...
