mold

I am looking for a stainless steel double s mold that is 12 inches long by 3 inches wide. Similar to the mold in the picture only longer and a little wider. Does anyone know where I can obtain one or does anyone on the board have a way to make me one?

Thanks in advance,

steel backing for glass

I didnt know who to ask until I remembered the good people here. Does anyone know what is the normal gauge or thickness of steel that people mount their glass on for wall hangings. You know, the brushed steel or aluminum that looks awesome as a mounting plate.

replacement lid?

I have an 8 yr old skutt hotstart kiln. Like typical skutt kiln owners, I have a crumbling element groove and loose pin elements. 4 to 5 pins fall out on every firing. Kiln dust falls in each project. So much that I am really frustrated. I am in a dilemma. Should I replace the lid or purchase a new ...

fused glass temperature

Question? Was slumping a 10 inch plate on one of the slumpys molds that has a pattern on it. Hearts to be exact. Contour fused the 6mm blank to 1300 to make sure to keep the edges from distorting. Got a good indentation on the backside but less that I wanted on the front. Do I go more heat to say 13...

Re: major heating element disaster

Gentleman, Thanks so much for the advice. Took both ends and folded them together so they overlap as one. Turned on the kiln and got familiar noise. Heat started rising and we are in business. Didnt run full cycle since not ready to full fire. Gonna run tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Just need these two...

major heating element disaster

Ok. Here's the nightmare. Element pin released the heating element and it fell into the glass. glass cooled and element got stuck in glass. When I lifted the lid unknowing that the element was stuck in glass, the element broke in two. Of course I have to make a full fuse and a fire polish fuse befor...

Re: kiln shelf

Brad, I have been using the mentioned 1 inch fiberboard. I find it crumbles some and leaves not the best backside. I have been using fiber paper. Would primo primer be a better option? Should I use a hardener to limit the crumbling? I have saws so cutting should be no problem if a better option than...

I am looking to make an octagon kiln shelf so I can fit a 9 inch square in my Skutt hotstart kiln. What material should I use? Fiber board, Vermiculite etc? What do I cut it ...

Help finding mold

I need the help of the best glass board on the planet. I was taking some glass off of the mold and the mold slipped and fell on the shelf and broke. I have looked everywhere on the Internet for a replacement and have come up empty. The mold is 5 x 12 and has three segments. image.jpg image.jpg Does ...

What temp is afap

Here is a stupid question. The first segment is 300 per hour to 1350, then segment 2 is Afap to 960. What temp do I set the kiln at to go afap to 960.

Thanks

Using Cricut to cut dicro slide

Has anyone used the scrapbook cutting machines like Cricut to cut out shapes and objects out of dicro slide. If so, how did it come out?

Thanks,

Saw those. Gotta be somewhere that wholesales them at a lower price. Similar to aftosa metal displays. Gotta keep looking.

Thanks for the effort
