Re: white mineral deposits

I got a call today from a client who has had one of my fountains for a couple of years now. She complained of white deposits on the glass that won't come off. I suggested CLR and she said that she tried that and nothing happened. I suggested that she use distilled water and she said that she does. ...

Re: My hands are killing me.....

Not sure if this is a SPAB type post but I have to believe that there are others out there suffing the same. I've been doing a lot more cold working to my work, now that I have the "toys" to allow me to do so. I've also discovered that my hands are a disaster area. Being a guy (ARH, ARH, ...

Re: Now Diamond Drill Bits

I'm just full of questions tonight. I want to know what kind of diamond drill bits to buy for drilling into 6mm thick glass. I have purchased some drill bits, but the diamonds are getting stripped off some of the bits. Is there a brand/type of diamond drill bit I should use (yes, checked bulletin b...

Re: Problem Slicing Pattern Bar

As I'm slicing through a pattern bar, when I get to the very end of the slice it cleaves and ruins the cut (and my need for perfection). I'm slicing on a MK 101. The water feed is working and everything appears fine, until I get to the very end and snap. Your input is greatly appreciated. Hand held...

If the element is broken or breaks you can gently stretch them making sure you get 2 or 3 coils of element to over lap. You may have to remove a little bit of damaged /brittle/thin element wire to make a good contact. Good luck, Victotria I never would have thought to try that, great idea. Has anyb...

Re: High fire, please define

Coming from Clay, with a glass minor, High fire.... Please define, and mostly if I read deeply enough into the post, the numbers come out. But High fire, in 2 different directions, starts at 1800degF then goes to 2400degF. I think it unlikely, though valuable, that anyone is working this hot. Cone ...

Re: Good teaching / bad teaching

A number of people have emailed me off the board about our upcoming conference for teachers. Many had some really interesting ideas about what is needed in the way of teaching within our community. Many also relayed both good and bad experiences. I found the stories truly enlightening and wished so...

Re: Does the 80 grit take off material pretty fast?

Okay, to be honest we're really talking laziness now. I have at this point about even brains/money. So I'm interested in taking material off pretty quick on the first pass. I cast stuff, so I'm grinding the feeder gate area after I haven't cut it just perfect, and sometimes the rim of a vessel, stu...

I am getting ready to do a full fuse with some spectrum. I just bought some 1/4" float that I want to see if it is going to be compatble with some of my float frit and confetti before I do this other project. Seeing how I will only be going up to 1465 for the Spectrum, will this be high enough...
