I get nervous when I hear of wine, etc. at a selling event. I'm not sure of the liability issues but the art center here and several others that I know have gone to a selling/donation for drinks and use a licensed vendor because the insurance won't cover them should there be trouble with some one at...

We do jewelry and I have had some breakage but what is really a disturbing thing is "theft". I had one store that I no longer would even walk in because of the "theft" problem. Seems out of 30 pieces on consignmnet 3 sold and 5 were stolen. They sent back the work with a check fo...

Check with Dianes Rainbow of Glass Shop. Think that's the name. They have fusing and lampwork along with traditional stained glass classes.

Many of the premium colors of CBS are very dense and I feel can not be used over other design aspects. I use the silver alot and you can use it as a base or as an accent under other colors but if you but it on top of something it is basically opaque. I remember reading the post you are refering to a...

Try the stained glass shops that offer fusing classes. You may have to take a class to get on their use list. If all else fails, Peachy's Stained Glass in Superior WS rents kiln space and that's only 3 hours away.
We winter in TX and that's not that far in TX.

When using weights, don't have them sitting on the ground. They need to be suspended at least an inch or so above the ground and bungeed to the tent posts. If they sit on the ground, they aren't doing their job. We went through 80+ mph winds with weights on the corner and tie downs with dog screw do...

I got a nice craft pocket apron from Michaels. I removed the stitching lengthwise between two sets of pockets to create bil and MC pockets. I found it to work pretty good. I ekpt the small receipt book in one pocket, pens in another, BC in one and the rest held change and other essentials. I got the...

To add to the lists here that all are great: A fanny bag or an apron to hold your change, a fan if you can power it in the summer, saran wrap, screwdriver, make a tool kit that stays with your show stuff so that you don't have to rummage for tools and forget one, a tall directors chair since you can...

IF you are up to trying your own, doube half round, bent around a mandrell, leaving a tail, and then solder and then saw between the half rounds will get you a V split bail. You can also take the flat wire and bend it around a mandrell to form a P and then tumble with stainless steel shot to work ha...

I had one sheet of a green that I hated. I gave it away. I have used the rods butted together to make designs and used with the milleflori but you will like the other choices better. If you are after twisties and can do some lampwork I fused stacks into cubes of clear and dichro and then we reheated...

CRLOO did not include any written material with this package. The last few firings with the much thinner wash have been better but is a product I will not repurchase.

I really appreciate all the help.

Yes that has been the look. I did thin it out more and the last few firings have been better but I have also been firing a shorter time. I still have had to clean and redo every time but I am not opposed to that but would love to be able to use the shelves several times. The opals are still sticking...

One place to check with is the science labs there and see if any one there makes their own glass stuff. Lots of lab glass is made in the lab. Also check with the arts department as they may have glass workers there- bead makers, pipemakers. Alot of the head shops have pipemakers that bend glass tube...

I'll try thinning the wash. I'm firing at 1480 with a soak at 1150 and soaking at 1480, time depedant upon the look I want on fire polish or spreading to a full fuse. Next time I will get the BE to try. I wanted to only get a small amount , 1 lb and I think CRLoo had 5 lb tubs. At the rate I'm going...

kiln wash problems

I switched from the hotline to CRLoo's kilnwash, supposed to be same formulation as Bullseye, and have had every shelf wash crack and stick. I mixed it 50/50 about the texture of milk, not cream, and using hake brush applied x-I several times and placed on the kiln lid to dry. The sticking is mainly...

You might consider providing seperate info sheets that include the process info and artist bio for your galleries. That way they can give out as requested. Hang tags often get junky looking in a display and I have seen nice artists and info sheets on display in those plexiglass sheet stands. Susan W

You might get a sheet of 3/4 plywood, cover the bottom with a carpet scrap in a similar color as the berber (to avoid any color transfer possibility) and tile the top to place the kilns on. This will help in keeping the carpet clean and give a non flamable surface top side. If you make it big enough...

Thanks, I bet it is Hotline since I remember seeing a hotline box awhile back. Steve bought some stuff and I didn't pay attention at the time.
