Re: courtyard gate

i commissioned a steel artist to make a gate for my front courtyard. i had him design in various holes that i filled with mostly dichroic glass tiles. after dealing with slow artists (like that never happened to me), i've finally gotten it finished. http://groups.msn.com/_Secure/0RADdAj4TFHS5hd2qMH...

Re: Diamond Drill Bits and Fire Polishing

Hi, I have two questions. I just drilled my first holes in some cabochons. I made 20 holes before my drill bit gave out. These were mostly three layer cabochons. I drilled under water with them sitting on a sponge. I did not press exceedingly hard and removed the bit periodically to be sure water w...

If the saw is up to spec...its an amazing tool. We use one 3-4 days a week with great result. We use the mk 215 blade...lasts about 6 months. The only caveat is that we refire all that we cut so minor chipping is not an issue. Also its good to sanblast cut edges before firing. Rick rick, is it the ...

Re: MK470 Tile Saw Problem

I make Dichroic Glass Pendants. I fuse in about 9" loafs and then use a MK470 Tile Saw with a special glass blade to cut this loaf into smaller pieces. I have been using this saw for almost 2 years now. I have recently started experiencing problems with chipping and breaking. I replaced the bl...

We just sandblasted the hole- got a metal washer (with the same inside diam. as the hole) for a mask and blasted a narrow ring; the plug dropped out. Had to keep the angle of the blast consistent. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to go through 3/4" BE. marty, what type/abrasiveness of grit are y...

Re: Sandblast grit Q

i have someone doing blasting for me since i dont have the setup. she has 120 alum oxide, and says my projects are too "hard" for this grit, and it's breaking down too quickly. i was surprised to learn that since she's blasting other kinds of glass for trophy work, like stuff for the Iron...

Re: Looking for a very specific earring display stand

For several months now, I've been looking for a very specific earring display stand. I've done a number of different searches on the Internet and this is the closest thing I've been able to find for what I'm looking for. http://www.storefixtures2000.com/WireRacks/wire_jewelry_displayer.htm What I'd...

Sounds like a winner. You're gonna be selling it? Well, given that I have to buy 144 pieces, I have no choice. But I'll probably only sell it to folks in the US east of the Mississippi River. Bullseye carries it also, so with shipping so expensive anyone on the West Coast ought to buy from them. br...

Hey glass guardians out there! I've followed the discussion on finding a host for a website, now the obvious question: what is your favorite program for designing your own webpage and why? I've built my own site using Microsoft Home Publisher, but would like to do oh, so much more (and hopefully fu...

Re: New work from Tony

This is a piece that I kept under wraps until I could show it at WGW. As you can tell, it is the start of a series. Every aspect of this piece was sandblasted... at least 5 different sandblasting operations and two different micas. The names are the names of the named stars in the constellation Sco...
