Hi lanie I do this all the time, just put a spoon of Borax in half a cup of warm water, brush the half of the bottle yhat won´t touch the shelf and wait till it´s dry (few minutes, if the water is warm). You can brush over the decals, if they are already dry, no problems. You just can´t let the b...

Re: Luiza's work

Luiza, Very nice 'flow' to these pieces. (I am assuming you are still working with float).... I really like the Cage. I think you should explore this piece more. Perhaps do a series, I have learned so much lately by making myself work in series. There is no telling where it will lead you! What are ...

I found out what a pratos is, very nice. Your english is better than my Portuguese at present. I noticed that a lot of your work is sagged/slumped where the temperatures aren't very high. I use good quality lampworking glasses at these lower temps so I can actually see what's going on and the darke...

I´d like to thank you all - you care, and that is the most important thing. I´ll take the advice, and will use that DISGUSTING glasses for some time  And, of course, I´ll try to remember to always use the goggles... Geri, I doubt that the glass will slump or fuse if I don´t peek :D Here in ...

dry eyes - wrong forum?

Hi all I went today to my oculist, cause I am felling my eyes very dry. I use contact lens, so I thought that they were guilty... The doctor said that my problem is the heat of the kiln - I LOVE to look inside the kilns... He said I´ve damaged my eyes, and I´ll have to use wet drops forever... Is ...

Leveling shelves can also be done by placing a small ball of moist clay on the top or bottom of your kiln posts and carefully placing the kiln shelf on top of the posts. Press gently on the shelf until level. Kevin The shinkage/expansion of the clay during the process of heating/cooling the kiln wo...
