Hi Robert
Warren said he uses any kind of sand, he like the differnt texures you can get. I use silica and get good results. No need for bentonite or mulling.

I was in Warrens class last summer. his sand, plaster mix was 80% sand to 20%plaster.

Hi
I use a drill like the one shown in the picture. what I do is take off the legs and put two boards across the top of your sink. set the drill on the boards, line up your core bit to the location of your hole. put a few inches of water in the sink and drill

Thanks for the reply I tend to think now it might be temp. I had been firing 16 sheets about 36" x 49"x 3/8" @ 1435 degrees with no problems. this job I am working on now I am firing 1/2"thick and the size is 38" x 68". I think the added thickness and size might be hold...
