Gorilla glue is also PolyUrethane. Does great for glueing styro together to get a bigger piece. Must be clamped in this app.

Results. Finally got the pieces out and divested yesterday. Did some cold work today. Graphite kiln wash in the bottom of the mold, on embedded kiln shelf, UNDER frit. No obvious results other than failure. Alumina Wash: This wash brushed on a dry-ish mold. Water and Alumina to a thin skim milk colo...

I'm not an expert, but blowing and casting with 96, I'll put my foot in. You shouldn't have to go much about 1550degF to get 96 to run. BELOW 1500degF, it's a pig. A real ANNOYING PIG. In the shop we've been playing with pick-up/roll-ups using 96. It's working fine so far. If you are missing the swi...

I have seen wonderfull results from HOT CASTING into graphite, then popping the piece, then annealing. I was told by a MFG at GAS, that Graphite starts to break down around 1100degF. It looses cohesion. If you had a pot/furnace, gather a punty, drop the glass into the graphite, cut it off, torch the...

Just a couple of random ideas that I have not tried. Rubber cement: Form fitting, can be as thick as you want, removable later. Dipable rubber: The kind they sell for tool handles. Same thing here. Both of these would require doing the designing/cutting on the piece, but you would avoid wrinkles bub...

Defintions please. BCGAA, what, why where ,how, with a side order of when. Never heard of it, but I've been out of the loop for 18yrs. Would love to apply for shows/scholarships, if I knew when, what etc... Now that I look at it, BCGAA, seems obvious, but maybe the publicitic board member should be ...

Graphite kiln wash
Has anyone played with Graphite mixes in plaster molds? I know that HOT, it works very well for a bright surface. But how does it hold up to the Long cycle in the oven? Current plan is to try a graphite/kaolin wash and a graphite Alumina wash, on the inside of the molds prior to firing. I'm also try...
