SPeaking of release and filet. A couple of hints. Be careful how greasy you get your live/dead fish. If you are looking for detail, even a thinnish layer of Pam can cover some of the detail. Be SURE to soap wash the mold quickly afterwards. Or the natural slime coat on the fish, will sink into the p...

Well I lied, about my last word. If the gallery wants to give a discount, and you really need the money, remind the gallery, that the discount comes out of their share, as well as yours. That should keep the discounts in line, unless the gallery is scraping to pay the gas bill. I do agree that, Come...

But Geri and Dennis, I think this is exactly the same discount. If I buy $1000s of stuff from a supplier, or a client buys $1000s of stuff from me. I think both is fair for an asked discount. Now if you buy $1000s from "Fred's" and $10s from me, there's quite a difference. My last word Greg

If this person is a collector of MY WORK, then I'd cut them some slack. You know, kind of like the lunch cards, buy 10, get one free..... But you have to buy those first 10.... AT RETAIL If the person is known to you, then feel free. If they are off the street, don't mention seeing your work at X ga...

I think that I would not Sell glass as microwaveable, but I Would use it in my own kitchen. Big difference. I think the carrots vs oatmeal scenario is the best I've heard. I have old (vintage 1975) plates, that really don't like the microwave. Basically they develop cracks due to intense heating und...

Here's the general theory. The larger the chunk of glass melted, the fewer the bubbles, the less cloudy. I've actually begun pre casting 5 lbs blocks, to get the best possible clarity of the final casting. The hotter you go, for longer, will allow bubbles to rise through the glass to the top. But I ...

Arrrrghh Grumpy grumpy reply. I'm sorry, but one cannot make a $1200 sink for $12..... Especially not your first 50 or so. If you are going to clear, say $100 on your sink, what is $100 for a decent drill bit???? You can make at least 100 sinks with the drill bit, you just have to postpone that bott...

Enamels on glass are "generally" more like Oil Paints, not like Stained glass. If you want that depth of color, get colored glass. Youghigheny (sp) flat glass. Anyone have an address? I probably could/should search, but I'm typing right now. And the spelling would cause me much trial, even...

Jasper, please check the CFMs. In effiecient moters vs efecient ones etc. What you need to know FIRST is the Cubic Feet per Minute that the puppy will put out. And how much you need to run your blaster, and maybe some air tools etc. After you know CFM required, then you can balance $$ versus efiecin...

When I was renting time at a shop, the going rate was $45 a day. Not sure whther that is a good price for the supplier, but it seemed resonable as the buyer. But this was for casting, week long cycles etc.

Just to beat the equine. Something that you might remember and could ask inoccently (bat eyelashes here) (M or F). "How much fusing have you done? Do you know where I could find out more???" You might get a stammer, or just more bluster, or an honest answer. Or you might get a student. I m...

OK, just for the dictionary-esque definitions. SilicA: A generic name for silicon dioxide. Silica covers the gamut...

For air tools, the question is not the HP, it is the CFMs, cubic feet per minute. That tells you how many, and what tools you can use off of it. Also tools should give a figure for how many CFMs they require.

Just to pile on. I still don't understand how the glass goes through, from what direction, and/or what shape the glass wiill be. I could do it hot, but you'd have a pile of fire scale to deal with. What would be cool, is a 3 layer thingie. Glass leaf on back and front, silver between. Trickier than ...

Cool little rubber thingies, could be as simple as heavy Weatherstripping. Foam, heavy foam, with a sticky side.

Please continue to report back if you find something, or anything. More minds on the same project, make quick work.

Something to add into your thinking, not really an answer. If you think of a piece of 1/8 window glass. If it's in a 2inch by 2inch frame, it's takes a whole lot of force to break it, same glass in a 2x2ft frame, you could break it with your hand. Maybe the bullseye website has some info if you dig ...

Sounds great. Try to help them by staying up on the WHolesale shows, and sales. There was some depressing-esque news from Rosen Balt. But mostly blown work folks. You can check the Craftweb board, in "Cords" for the thread.

Good Luck
