Glastar Pressure Pot replacement parts

So I'm guessing it has been at least 10 maybe even 15 years since I've posted on this board. LOL. So I'm firing up my studio again and my old Glastar sandblaster is in need of replacement parts. I see via "The Google" that they have gone out of business. I've been searching but I'm not fin...

Re: Bohle Silberschnitt running pliers

I do a fair amount of strip work and these work like a champ. Never had an issue with them and most of the time work far better than anything else I've ever used. For irregular shape cuts, probably not. For strips, their the bomb and worth every penny.

OK, I got a question here. Bert and I were discussing things back and fourth and I really had a question but I did not explain myself well enough. Bert mentions that Duraboard comes from the factory rigidized. Other people mention rigidizer, colloidal silica, colloidal alumina, etc. Anyway, the word...

The old addage of get the right tool for the right job. An angle grinder I'm assuming is actually a surface grinder. If you want to rework your surfaces and that is what is most important to you, get the angle grinder. A WBS is NOT for surface work. It is for edge work. It will produce fantastic edg...

Not sure I completely understand your setup. In deep I believe you are refering to height? On a typical potmelt you have your pot, supported up in some method. The hole in the pot drips the glass to something to catch the glass, either a stainless plate or a kilnshelf. If your question is can you pu...

Jackie, Thanks again for the lamp mold. Reslumped the flattened taco and presto! I have a lamp shade. Didn't stick at all either. I watched it like a hawk and stopped it at just the right point. You'd never know the sucker has gone through 3 slumping cycles. Drill a hole here and I should be in busi...

Still rather a newbie here -- let me ask an unartistic question: What kind of electric bill do you have?? I am in Southern Calif. Though I would love to do some of this type of work (right now I just make jewelry in a Hot Box) -- I can't imagine what the electric costs would be for making pieces th...

Bert had a previous post on this. He will probably pipe in but if not, check the archives for Bert Weiss and collodial alumina. You get it in a powderd form. It is safer than colloidal silica and dries harder as I understand it. On the colloidal silica, I put it on and ramp my kiln at 500DPH to 500 ...

I agree with some of what Dennis says and disagree with other parts. Way too many business fail because they are underfunded. I guess that also depends on what your specific business goals are but this business is not unlike any other, dare I say, manufacturing business, where you can make some thin...

They're the standard 10" square sheets. A bit of math for you Joseph: Density of glass is 1.62 lbs/sqft of single 3mm (1/8") glass. You have 10" sq sheets so each sheet will weigh about 1.125lbs. Looking at your racks you have 20 bins/rack so if each bin had one sheet in them you'd h...

Not sure exactly what you mean by "drop out". Typically a glass drop is accomplished by using a mullite or board doughnut that has a fair amount of surface area that you lay your glass onto. The board is supported by kiln furniture and the glass drops through the hole when heated. 18ga SS ...
