THANKS!!!!!

Well thought I would all let you know what my plan is. My plan is a 2 year plan: stay focused on paying off debt, buy a condo in the States (thinking about Arizona again), save as much as I can on the side, work on my glass and then keep my eyes open for a business to buy (glass or some sort of art ...

Hey Amy:

I've been meaning to write you on the side cuz I do have another option which I keep forgetting about. I have a piece of property on Pender Island (just land no structure and is about 1/2 acre - on Magic Lake). I have had it for around 6 years now and have been there 3 times for a very quick visit i...

thanks again

Hi everyone: Well the weekend has gone by and as you probably know my mind has been going around and around trying to think this out. One of the things that I keep hearing from everybody is that I should just up and do it. Remember, I live in Canada and have no green card. I would love to just up an...

Charlie, funny you should answer cuz I was actually thinking about Arizona this morning. I used to have a condo in Mesa and when the Can. dollar went to hell, I ended selling it about 3 years ago but have never forgotten about it. So are you saying: buy a place in - let's say Mesa (for example), fig...

I have a lot to figure out, but I definitely know that it's the fear that will kill me. I am in a perfect situation where I have ...

Great ideas - I have thought about a financial advisor. Lionel - how did you get around being a Canadian and working in the States??? Didn't they hassle you for wanting to buy a business in America??? Kevin and Lionel: do you find that having a business just in glass makes the glass not as enjoyable...

HELP!!! - Midlife crisis

OK guys: I'm going to get all whiney and personal with you but I need some ideas. I'm going to be 50 in January (big YUC!!!) and have been thinking about my future a lot lately. I have been working in the Oil Industry for over 25 years now and do not want to work at it for another 25 years. I have b...

Thanks Bert for letting me know about your disaster with daming. I will try just making a box of float glass and then filling it up with strips of float (no daming) and see what happens. I'm really curious now. Maybe even throw a little coloured frit into it.......... hmmmmmm????? I'll let you know ...

I was also just thinking about having to dam it.... What I think I will do is try a little square piece (maybe 4"x4"), dam it and then fill it up with strips of the float. I was also concerned about the devit - so if I just wash the glass and then spray it with something and then try Bert'...

Hey Bert: Absolutely loved the table!!! Love the little specks in the texture. Question: I get tons of float given to me by a picture framer, so it's that really thin (don't know thickness) glass. If I want to fuse it together to make something thick (I know compatibility would still be an issue), b...

Well Jackie I just got off the phone with Cheers Bob and he filled me in. I had the definition of "cold working" all wrong. Now it's much clearer to me. I basically just want to get my edges of my plates to have a nice clean even finish. So the scope of "cold working" is much, mu...

Thanks so much for all your info Jackie. Where I'm at right now in the big pic, (just moved into a new house and don't have a studio yet) is that I got my system from PhotoBrasive and just dug out my sandblaster which I have never used. I looked around for courses in the Calgary area for coldworking...

Hey Jackie: Absolutely love what your doing now. Keep up the awesome work. I envy your ability to use the colours the way you do. Where did you learn the techniques of the grinders/polishers etc.?? I'm a little confused with the "how tos". Good luck to all who are waiting for the Pilchuk n...

Thanks guys: I know that everything I said earlier was my insecurities. I do believe that I have to be happy with me and my work. I could put a piece out there for your critique and you could you say you loved it but I still wouldn't believe you. It's me and yes I do need a shrink. Thanks again. :ro...

Hey guys: When I first started reading this thread, it scared me. My thoughts are - how am I ever going to be "accepted" as an artist within this group if the only thing I have the energy to do now is work on technique. I have taken numerous courses in the last 2 years hoping that one of t...
