Do any firing first and then etch after if you want the etching to stay.

Instructions, follow the link.

You two are not alone. This subject has been discussed over and over but there are always new people joining in and inevitable it will come up again. There are probably hundreds of posts in the archives regarding the tin side of float. Judy Hi Judy I´ve been reading all posts about this topic sinc...

Re: I can´t stand ignoring it...tin side... again...

After all this time working with float glass, I don´t know wich is the tin side... Is the lamp that is used to discover it the same that is used to cure UV glue? Please, don´t laugh, I can hear it... Katia Thanks for posting that - you beat me to it. I also am clueless on what tin side is. I have...

Some nice refreshing designs. I like "Dreaming Gecko" the best, "Puzzeling One" is a close second/

Nice work, thanks for sharing.

If the Mother of Pearl powders are the ones from CR Loo, they will work.

Just another name for mica powders.

Placing the blaster in a cold garage will cause no end to blasting problems. The biggest problem is that condensation will freeze and clog up the gun. No matter how well you dry and filter the air, in a cold garage it will freeze. As the air escapes from the nozzle it expands and cools and freezes a...

Phil Striving for the extra mile in quality of your work is one way to set the bar for the standard of work being produced today. I see it as a way to maintain the art and keep it moving forward and avoid falling into the craft catagory. People may not always see the fine details at first glance but...

Look around for a piece of stainless steel pipe. Try a scrap metal yard. You can also form your own mold from a piece of stainless steel sheet.

No need to wet the shelf for cleaning. Get a razor blade window scraper and use it to clean off the old wash. As for when to renew the wash, do a little experimenting. I replace the wash each time I go above about 1400, others will use it several times. Experiment Experiment with drying too. I only ...

This is reassuring. I'm just setting up my kiln area now, and I have it on a tiled platform, with a minimum 15" space to fire resistant ceiling tiles (think Ceramaguard). The tiles are screwed to 1 5/8 steel studs as stand offs. Sound reasonable? Glenn Sounds good to me. Even thin sheetmetal w...

If you are really concerned about heat, you can put up cement tile board over the walls. Install the board on 1 inch spacers so air can circulate behind the board.

Try the kiln before you do anything, check the kiln surface temperature as it fires. My bet is it doesn't get very hot.

Fusing bottles from the same brand might work, but my guess is different brands won't survive the fuse. Compatibility will be a problem.

I wouldn't try to sell anything I fused like this. You just don't know what's going to happen. Fun to play with but that's about it in my view.

It sounds to me that you may be seeing the results of shelf bubbles in your glass. A shelf bubble is caused by air being trapped between your kiln shelf and the underside of your glass. The shiny firepolished look to the underside of the glass indicates it wasn't touching the shelf at high temperatu...

Maybe they don't have a voice to shine through. Maybe the people that pray on the designs of others just lack the ability to create on their own. Lack might be a little harsh, probably just lazy and find it's easier to let someone else do the work. I would imagine most of the design thieves have goo...

Re: Tempered Art Glass?

I don't quite understand what companies who claim to sell tempered glass sinks do to temper them. It would require a set up that perfectly matches the shape of the bowl. There is no place to have this done on a custom basis and it seems to me that it would be cost prohibitive to set up. Perhaps the...
