About 10 years ago, before I started fusing, there was an article in "School Arts" about a high school teacher teaching glass, using the pottery kiln and single strength glass. It was an inspiring article, one that got me started fusing with my middle school students. Since it's been so lo...

The other night I was making garlic toast in the broiler, and my son mentioned that it wasn't good to watch the red hot coils in the oven. Your comment about protecting your eyes when looking into the kiln made me think about the broiler. Was he correct?

Rosanna, I totally agree with you. Go slowly below 1100 or 1200, the larger the piece, the slower you should go. Then, go AFAP to your top temp, which for me is 1545, and again AFAP down to annealing temps. I fire with float almost exclusively, and never get devit. Lynn

Where can I get 6" X 48" diamond belts for a wet b

Oh, I'm a happy girl. Looking through the "Thrifties" this weekend, I spotted a self feeding diamond bladed wet (lapidary) tile saw for $90 (works Great!), and a combo wet belt sander and disc grinder for $40 on an older, but sturdy wheeled cabinet with storage. However, the sander didn't ...

I too was having trouble with split skin on the ends of my fingers. My hubby convinced me to get a lava stone from Walmart, and to sand the fingertips while wet. I'd tried all kinds of lotion with gloves on overnight, and that didn't work for me. This works well, as I continue to "work my finge...
