Re: Brock Craig has passed on.

I also saw on Facebook. Printed so many posts from him with glass help, before the internet exploded. May he rest in peace.

Corelite kiln shelf questions

I just received a corelite kiln shelf. Do I need to do anything special before using it ? It didn't come with instructions. I read in older threads to heat up at 200DPH. Does this mean when firing glass that I always need to take the shelf into consideration and ramp whatever project I'm working on,...

Firing silver foil

I know that if the foil touches my kiln shelf, it will contaminate it. If the foil doesn't touch the shelf will I be ok ? Will the fumes from the foil have the ability to contaminate the shelf even if its not touching ? Are the fumes going to contaminate the brick in my kiln (I will vent) What temp ...

Use for broken mold

I ordered a bowl mold from Bullseye....it was delivered by UPS...broken. The situation has been resolved (Bullseye was AWESOME) before I throw away the mold....is there any use for the broken pieces ? Different sizes of pieces. Just want to make sure I'm not throwing away broken mold pieces that cou...

Covington Wet Belt Sander

Just got a Covington WBS new in the box (garage sale..unbelievable !!) ....I remember reading at some point on the boards, that you could remove the back plate so that the belt has some room to move and you're not sanding on flat surface behind the belt.......not sure about the best way to use the s...

Re: Problem with Slump

Jim, I would be curious if it was 0013 Opaque white. I've used 0013 in some pattern bars, it is SO stiff that when it is fired the other glass around it flattens. It creates a little bit of a dam effect. Not sure this makes sense, but it is so stiff that its really hard to get it to move.

Opaque white and specks

I used BE opaque white in a pattern bar. The glass was cleaned prior to firing. There was no dirt anywhere. The slab came out of the kiln... there were black specks on and "in" the opaque white. (not many...but they are there) I cut the bar and discovered black specks contained "in&qu...

Pattern Bar/Devit question

I made a sushi platter from pattern bars. Some of the cuts were thicker than others. Prior to firing the piece it had an uneven surface, it didn't fuse totally flat and has some devit. Would it have been better to increase the temp or increase the hold.(For the flatter surface) ( BE glass 1807-1808-...
