Denver kiln relay

Hello all, I have a Denver kiln (model RTC 1000 -- KL-27, I believe) and the relay broke. As most of you probably know, this company went out of business. My kiln repairperson said I need a pilot relay for this kiln. I am wondering if anyone might have one that they are willing to sell, or if anyone...

kiln shelf

I need to buy a 24" x 24" kiln shelf to fuse glass (5/8" or 3/4" thick). Does anyone know a good place to purchase this?

Re: glass is breaking

I use an activator glue from Loctite. But I also use this glue on some other clear pieces that I am not having an issue with.

I will start to anneal to 900 (I have been annealing to 960). And then I'll slowly go down to 600 or 700 degrees.

Thanks.

Re: glass is breaking

I do fuse the clear glass to 1365 or 1370 and then anneal it to 960 (hold for 1.5 hours). If we used float glass, could we still fuse it? I assume not. I think we need fusible glass because it softens it. I think it would be too sharp if we do not fuse it. And these issues are only happening during ...

glass is breaking

I own a business that makes cabinet hardware. The pieces of hardware are made with glass and metal. For a new hardware design, I am getting some pieces of glass that are breaking during shipment. They are predominantly clear glass. I am using one 6mm layer of Bullseye glass. Photo of the pull is att...

Re: broken glass

I just received another broken handle from a customer. I;d love to mail one of you a sample of the broken piece to look at. I have no idea what is causing this breakage, but there have been five pieces that have broken, so something is definitely going on. Would anybody be open to taking look at one...

Re: broken glass

Good question. I'm not sure if the package was damaged. I understand that the breakage may not be due to my firing schedule, but do you all think my firing schedule is ok? Am I annealing long enough? The pieces I'm firing are either 6mm or 9mm thick. Some are 1.25" square and some are 5" x...

Re: broken glass

Thank you both for your thoughts. The reason I had thought that it might be a fusing issue is because we pack these up extremely well when they ship out...bubble wrap, and then lots of padding in the box. It seems so unlikely to me that it could have broken during shipping. But I certainly could be ...

broken glass

I am having some issues with broken glass. I make cabinet knobs and handles. I introduced a new collection of hardware in January. I have probably made 1000 pieces of hardware since then, and recently 4 of them arrived at the customer with broken glass. I don't think it was because they were bounced...

large kiln

I have 3 mid size kilns, and I'm thinking about purchasing a larger kiln...something that can handle at least 8 pieces of 12" x 12" x 9mm glass. So I want something with an interior shelf of at least 28" x 56". I've read through the archives on this site, and am more confused tha...

Re: not fusing flat

thank you all for your comments. All great ideas, which I will try. I can't fuse it to too high of a temp because I can't have the pieces round out too much. But perhaps a little higher temp will work. And I will check to make sure my kiln shelfs are flat. And try to hold at 1100 on the way down. Be...

not fusing flat

I am fusing 2 pieces of 3mm Bullseye white glass and it isn't fusing completely flat (slight concave up). It's a problem because I have to glue the top layer of the glass to a metal base. I dont know why it's not fusing flat. The piece is 5" x 1". I fuse 400 DPH to 1000. Then AFAP to 1390 ...
