Nice!

Marty, If you read this, I just went to your site and your work is awesome. I have never been there before. I really like the Rainbow Bowl. The shape is unusual. It must have taken you some time. Thanks for the info as well. Your edges are the type I am shooting for. Paul

Thanks Marty, Thats actually what I ended up doing. I am not mad at them for their policy as much as just you know... being turned down. I still thinkn they have a good product. I called a company I deal with here in Texas and they sold it to me for $200 under list so I am happy with that. Paul

Nice

I like that Charlie, I noticed a lot of gates on entry ways of large houses on my long drive to Fredricksburg Texas (Lots of country driving) about a month ago that had the nice cut out designs on them. The glass really makes it stand out. It looks great.

I guess the most frustrating thing about this is that you are right I am the little guy and this company started in a garage as well like so many other little guys. Once you get large you forget where your roots are. I wasn't asking to be a distributor just a wholesaler. Which I could very well be a...

Nice Edges on glass. What is better to use?

Can I get the nice flat sharp edges I see on a lot of the bowls with just a wet belt sander and polisher or do those edges require a lap wheel? Is there a book on cold working I can buy? Thanks......

Very Frustrated

I live really close to one of the major kiln manufacturers. I have been giving some fusing classes in my home studio and have had people ask about purchasing a kiln. Well, I thought I have a business license and a tax id so I will go down and see if I could resale their kilns. I thought it was fooli...

To that extent, I wish more people would share there "Secrets" Not to copy but, so that others may learn from and enrich the art that we do. We all know the basics of fusing. Its going beyond the basics that makes it great. If I have technique I consider secret I can use it and continue t...

I just want to clarify my posting on this topic. When I asked what paints she used I in no way want to copy her work. I wouldn't want anyone to think that and I am sure you dont but, just in case my thoughts are this... My father was an artist. He painted for many years and got quite good at it. His...

Kathie, I have been pondering what you are talking about for quite some time and I am only 34 :D I have a great job making good money but, my heart is not here. I can only say that as I hopefully soon have the courage you might also. Fear is the great limiter for human kind. I truly believe if we ca...

Classes in home Studio and Place that rents studio use

I really have two questions. 1. Has anyone ever taught basic fusing classes out of there home studio and if so how did that work out. What did you charge and how did you advertise etc..... (I am sure someone has done this.) 2. Does anyone know of a retailer that rents kiln time and or studio space? ...

Thank for the info and question about cold paint.

Thanks for the info. Bert, when you say cold paint are you meaning just plain old paint? Just something that would dry well on glass?

Melissa Paxton Bowls

Hello! I saw some bowls this weekend that were done by an artist "Melissa Paxton". Her company name is Coyote Glass Design. Has anyone heard of her? More to the point of my question is does anyone know what type of coloring she uses for her bowls? They were very unique and quite beautiful....

I know that the flat ones are what are called half tones and are done with a photomask such as Rayzist or Photobrasive. I suspect that the 3D one is something that I have seen lately and is done by laser. I am not sure where to tell you to get it done though. Best of luck.
