Re: Float Glass Reco Needed for Decals

smoothness was the issue for the decals and the frit combined with keeping glass 3mm thick. You have to tack fuse frit quickly and at a lower temperature because it's so small and thin. We don't get to the higher temperature needed to get it smooth. I thought I had read that you could add small surf...

Re: Float Glass Reco Needed for Decals

That's great information, thank you! Another question. Can you use bullseye frit on float glass? she wants to make an appearance of snow on the window. We did it with single layer 3mm bullseye without distortion to 1420F. Does the float act differently at that temperature? Is there some basic printe...

Float Glass Reco Needed for Decals

Hi, Note: I only have experience using Bullseye Glass for fusing. I have a student/friend who wants to make small windows for her dollhouse using fusible decals for a pattern. She needs the glass to remain thin (3mm) and smooth. Can't bring Tekta to a full fuse to get it smooth for decal placement a...

Cynthia, Purple filters? Mine are pink. I thought we are supposed to use P100s. Please let me know if that is wrong. Camaro, I use a vaccum (sp?) with a HEPA filter, especially for fiber papers. Otherwise, all the dust is pushed back out into the air. I purchased a Shark brand from Bed, Bath & B...

I know you probably have all the info you need to create holes, but I thought I might add my 5cents (inflation and all). I use a spring gauge (a caliper type tool) to mark piece both front and back using a sharpie. Then I wax the sharpie mark (candle or chapstick works) so it won't come off in water...

It's awesome. I am soooooo jealous of you for making a sink that is so beautiful and I am jealous of the people who get to see and use it everyday.

Fun Fact: Michael Nesmith's (of Monkees fame) mother invented Liquid Paper (aka White Out). When she invented this stuff to benefit the typing community, she had no idea what it would do for the arts as well. FYI-In the "At The Bench" section of AJM magazine (Feb 2004), Alan Revere recomme...

Alas, I am windowless. But I am glad I didn't fork over the extra dough because I had to have an electrician come in and futz with my wiring and install a 120/20 outlet even though it runs on household current. That was expensive! And being a glassblower too, I find it oddly refreshing to get the bl...

Hi Geri, Go to the very bottom of your "MY Yahoo" page. On the right sight, you will see "add right side content" pull down menu. It's called "currency converter". Add the currency you wish to track. Gold, silver, palladium, etc. are listed in the currencies. Darn! Silv...

I have a customized Web Page with Yahoo called My Yahoo. When I launch Internet Explorer, this page comes up. I have all the info I want pushed to me (i.e., my stocks, my horoscope, my incurable need for entertainment gossip). On this page I also have a currency converter so I can check how the %^&a...

I admire you for being so gutsy as to put yourself on the line and ask for help, thus criticism. I doubt I could do it. So kudos to you. Nichrome Wire Turned Black

Recently, I read on the board a recommendation for nichrome wire. It's supposed to stay shiny? Mine turned black. I actually like the result, but it was not what I was planning on. If I want it shiny, what does a girl have to do? Please, no advice that includes odd rituals, praying, incantations and...

Hey, where'd it go?

This never happended before: After using a preferred preprogrammed firing schedule, when I opened my Jen-Ken Maxi Fuser (13" round shelf), I found 2 small jewelry pieces, fully formed, at the bottom of the kiln (under the kiln shelf). Stats: 2 layers of BE @ 3mm with fine silver surface inclusi...
