Re: Lamp worked rondels and other 2D forms

... It's a pain in the neck to arrange a bunch of (probably jagged-bottomed) stringer or rod or cane--they want to fall over. I typically cut some strips of scrap about a half-inch wide, interleave them to make a frame that's slightly thinner than the length of the pieces. Then I stand the kilnshel...

Re: BE 0146 Steel Blue - powder

I want the opposite - if I use the steel blue powder uncapped will I get silver color where the powder is - even if it is a tiny line?

Re: Big bubbles on flat fuse

definitely measure - using the brush I use the 10 to one measurement when I use my air compressor to spray my shelves I use 20 to one and I don't really count how many layers I just look for an even coating of pink. I used to spray all the time. When I brush it's because I'm being lazy. But the firs...

Re: Big bubbles on flat fuse

bubble on kiln wash seem to appear only if the kiln wash is too thick. I mix 10 to 1 and only use one or 2 coats over an existing layer. After the kilns wash shows wears I scrape and start over again with maybe 3 layers. hope this helps.

my best glass story

This might be the best story of my glass career. I was selling at the Palo Alto Clay and Glass Festival this past weekend. Of course I had my glass portraits with me. They are my higher end items and so people take a little time to think about it. It just so happened that I had so quite a few the sh...

Re: Customers Asking for Discounts

I just say that I'm an hones person and I don't play games with fluctuating prices. Plus most of my work is one of a kind. I find it totally confusing to have one set of price and selling for another. The most I will do is I have certain items already marked 1 for 30 or 2 for 55.00. Or I may pay tax...

Re: Donations/Pricing

I got asked to donate to an organization that I used to do a lot of award for and I had a personal connection with the director. The director is gone so I'm not as connected. When the director retired I gave them a 1200.00 piece for 300.00 I wanted to because I have decades of respect for this direc...

I think you can only count the cost of materials as the amount donated - mind you this is a slippery slope.

Re: adjusting sheet glass to fit my needs

Working outside your kiln, you could set up an uncoated silk screen frame and 'squeegee' on layers of colors until your desired color is achieved. Where do you buy your uncoated screens - :?: someone gave me a name of a company but they only do wholesale - I would not be buying enough to establish ...

Re: Irid Food Safe?

Yes it can go into the dishwasher but do you normally put art into the dishwasher? Then if that doesn't work I tell them that when you put things in the dishwasher all your plates are the same and so when they move around they do it in unison - if you have an shape that doesn't match all the other p...

Re: photo decals - black and white

Best I can tell, this is the standard decal paper available in many places including our web store (see below). Many canon printers do have the iron oxide in the toner, but some do not. You are pretty safe with HP black only printer Note: you still get the "sepia" color, also known as rus...

photo decals - black and white

Hand any one used photo decals from Fusion? http://www.fusionheadquarters.com/product_p/decpap.htm

It says"If your printer is a Black and White HP or Canon Laser Printer or copier and has absolutely NO capability of printing in color… it will work."

Thanks -

website listing submissions

I have to make some quickie websites for some friends for open studios in May. I can't seem where to submit my new website addresses so that they appear when searched by Google or other search engine. Long long time ago I remember you could just go to Google or yahoo and submit a url. Of course I wo...
