Cindy the texture is very cool--it looks like crinkled up paper or something. But I want to see that piece with some light through it. There are some really interesting things going on in it, streaks and veins that I can't quite see.

The two cityscapes are the best IMO--very moody and watercolory. Thanks for sharing!

"Ramped 3 tu full--"
define "full". If you didn't want the fish to melt completely into the design but to keep crisp lines you might have wanted to tack fuse or stop somewhere between tack and a full fuse.

I've read this thread and bitten my tongue until now to allow Jackie and others to say what I would say for me, but Oh my god! I cannot believe anyone would say something(s) so stupid as those quotes?! Why would I want to say the same thing over and over again? Just because I don't doesn't mean I do...

Amy, I am convinced that the "patron" has no idea about what goes into a piece. It's something that a person can't really appreciate until they've gone through the pain. I'm also beginning to thing gallery owners don't have a clue either. Amy They seem to get it with blowing since they ha...

Thanks for the warning Barbara (Muth)!

Just now finished drilling the 1700th hole on the 1700 hole piece. Barbara I would have done it in much less time and pushed through the pain of beginning tendonitis if it wasn't for you and your warning. I spaced it out and did other things in between and kept myself healthy (okay just a bit sore b...

We didn't bring that up though--they did, so if they don't mention it then I agree that you shouldn't bring it up. It added a lot more difficulty to the project!

Thank you all for your encouragement. I wasn't getting much from friends and family (who all seem to prefer representational work). I was beginning to question my progress. My sister and her family came to visit us last summer--we went to a gallery that had some of my work and they stood in front o...

There isn't any need to prewarm anything that I know of, put the lampworked pieces and sheet glass together in the kiln cold and be sure to use a conservative warm up and good annealing time to accommodate the extra thickness of the lampworked pieces. I do this all the time and have never had any pr...

For some reason this reminds me of my college geology class. In the lab part of the class during the exam you were supposed to identify minerals using a number of tests such as hardness, streak and reaction to chemicals. Each mineral would be checked by a student and then handed on to the next one. ...
