Sorry Brock, I didn't know that you could prefire the kiln wash except to 500 degrees to get it to dry faster.

No, don't prefire it. The pink colour is to let you know that it has not been fired, and you can use it. It will lighten up a bit when it is dry, but will still be pink. After you fire it it loses the pink and turns almost a cream colour.

Hi Ruth,
I sell the ornaments from $9 to $15 here in Canada. The price depends on the complexity. For example, a little Chrismas stocking with 2 pieces of glass is $9 and a tree decorated with glass balls is $15. I just did a show and they sold well.

attaching hangers to christmas ornaments

I previously posted the following under another topic: I've been doing a lot of Christmas ornaments, but I'm not sure about the best way to hang them. I am only using single thickness glass with design elements because I want to make them as simple as possible so I can sell them at a reasonable pric...

wax paper and Christmas ornaments

I saw, I think in GPQ, where wax paper is used as a base for constructing snowflakes and glueing them together. The snowflake doesn't stick to the wax paper once the glue has dried. Clear nailpolish was used to glue the pieces together. I tried it, and it didn't leave any residue, plus it dried real...

Thanks everyone for your help with the adhesive question. Lynne, I did go to a local glass/mirror shop and got the construction adhesive by Franklin. I am in the lower mainland and will email you. I am making small fused backs for pocket mirrors and need to glue the mirror on.
Thanks again.

confused about adhesive for mirror

Hi, I have checked the archives re: the best adhesive for mirror. I know that some adhesives cause the silver backing to deteriorate over time. In the archives, E6000, silicone, and liquid nails were mentioned. Which one(s) will not cause this deterioration? I have lepage "NO More Nails". ...

Thanks everyone for your help. I think I'll just start a new bowl. The one I had problems with wasn't that nice to begin with so it's no great loss.

Thanks Bob,
I will follow your advice and try to do another drop ring project. A couple of other questions - the project I had problems with had slight devit. Could it have been due to the long hold time? And can I spray it with super spray and put it back in the kiln to continue the slump?

help with drop ring

I'm fairly new at fusing but decided to try a drop ring. I have a Skutt 1014 with controller. I first fused 2 layers (6 1/2 " diam) of system 96 . Then I used a drop ring with a 2" lip and a hole of 3". I elevated this on 3" posts. I used the preprogrammed slow slump, which is 30...

slumping into mold vs drop ring

Another beginner question. I have a Skutt 10 14 with controller. It has 3 programs with 3 speeds. Fast, med, slow and full fuse, tack, and slump. If I am slumping a 6" 2 layered piece into a drop ring elevated 2" would I use the same schedule and soak times as if I am slumping into a shall...

uroboros murrini maker

I used the murrini maker by Uroboros for the first time and it worked really well. Since i am a beginner, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how thick to slice the murrini if I want to incorporate it into a plate or bowl. Also what is the best way to cut it. I don't have a saw. Has anyone else ...
