I have been doing some work with silica cloth and it doesn't stick to the glass at fusing temperatures as its melting point is around 3000°. You can fire on it and it gives a heavy fabric-like texture to the glass. Tony http://www.amsmith.com/experiments/texturedback.jpg Tony, I loved the texture....

Re: Thanks Lisa, another ? or 2
Thanks for the quick reply Lisa. What is a Badger (mouth aspirator/ atomizer?) and where can I get one? I have used one of those sponge paint brushes and it works ok but not perfect. By the way, I love your work. Do you trim the sides of your pieces after cutting them, or do they turn out strait? M...

Re: scum from tile saw?
After cutting up pattern bars with my new tile saw they have a scummy surface that I thought I could clean off with wet sanding with 400 grit paper. I don't have a sand blaster so can I just coat these with Super Spray and fire or what? They do look a little cleaner after sanding but not like I'd h...

Hats off to whoever does you Flash development -- its very good. And I love the piece you have on the sculpture page. That is so cool. How big is it? Thanks, Paul. I am so lucky to be married to the Flash designer! I would have had a hard time affording what I got otherwise.....one of the perks of ...

Whew....BIG storm here Monday. 80-100 mph winds, giant trees snapped in half everywhere, 70% of the city still without power. We are in the lucky group of folks that sill have power, but we have been mighty busy feeding, housing and doing laundry for lots of friends and family. Jackie, the critters ...

I LOVE the green and black bowl! I didn't even notice the arrows until I read it in the posts. I went back and tried it. Didn't even know there was more to look at. Glad I went back since that's when I saw the green and black one. I didn't try the back button, but then just clicked on the titles. I...

Lisa - Your site looks great. I love your work, always have. You have a super grasp on how to use color, which I can't help being drawn to. One problem . . . Where are your fantastic looking critters?! Pattern bars are really fun, and your use of them is exceptional, but I miss those little guys - ...

Thanks all! Steve, I took your suggestion and enlarged and darkened the text a bit to hopefully make it more readable. As to the designer, it was my wonderful husband who does this all week long and was nice enough to work on it for the last couple of weekends with me. It's all done in Flash, which ...

Re: Super Spray and airbrush questions
Sorry, lots of questions all at once... Most importantly, I would like to get an airbrush to apply super spray as a top coat, which airbrushes do you recommend for this and what features should I look for? I saw in an earlier post that super spray need only be used in the hottest firing, I will be ...

I have a friend who has a paragon front loading kiln with top elements only. She regularly does 9 or 10 inch drops in it that work fine. As far as controllers, I don't have any experience with the controllers you mentioned. I have a RampmasterII that is very easy to program now, after my initial &qu...

Hi Cindy- I have wondered about this myself in trying to get a resume together, since I have no formal art education either. From what I have seen of others resumes, it looks like many list all of the workshops and classes they have taken. That should at least give you something to get it started. L...
