I can't figure where it came from either, Brock .... the 2 pin holes at the slump bottom was clear.. nothing else in the kiln etc... it's ready for a pattern bar now - but I wanted to see how I could avoid in the future.. I didn't wash the plate before I refired, I checked for level with the bubble ...

Your Effervescent student from Corning ( who had to leave early...)
it was a BE ceramic slump mold with a very shallow curve...
Much bigger bubble than the one in the black plate blank... where did I go wrong...

rats, I was doing so well, then bam ! huge bubble in my 22" platter, the 8 " center of white BE surrounded by black BE, AND with a silk screened design on it when blooey. I did try to do my homework and seach for reasons why but I may have done something extrodinarily stupid - that's never...

Can I fire Paradise paints twice?
Well the 1st paint fire of red on BE glass at 1150 - is matte as promised...also ugly. The sandblasted part stayed... but as Tony said, just risk it and cut & blast the rim details again!.
Does anyone know if I can re-fire the red to 1350 and it will come up to glossy?

Sorry Bert, You're right - must be the panic.. IT's BE glass and sandblasted details (light etch)..Thanks for the temp. insight..and I do remember all of the McDonald and sadly - the jetsons colored glasswear. The literature for Paradise Paint says they mature at a highter temp but will stick to gla...

Help! Does anyone have any sugestions about whether or not it's possible to fire a red (dry) silk screened paradise paint on a already (oops) etched plate without losing the etch? if so what is the lowest temp I can fire the red at without losing the etch - learning can be so painful.... thanks in a...

Thanks Avery! I'll be in your Corning Studio class this Aug - but as I have a GL24 ADTST on the way - I know I won't last that long! Too late to get into Judith's class with you - so back to NY . thanks for the info - i'll work on it. would you say that an airbrush is the only application method?

I'm going to look into these suggestions! I know I can't open the doorway as removing the frame still wouldn't give me enough clearance and Paragon's specs say that you need 33" clear... but I didn't ask if the door could come off - I;ll try that and look into the jen. I don't know anybody that...

First Kiln purchase recomendations
Hi, I'm new to fusing and have been researching kilns. I plan to put it in my basement and have a door opening restriction at 26" - I had hoped to get a Paragon GL24ADTSD but it won't fit.. Does anyone have recomendations on brands and models for a first kiln that can support larger size pieces...
