Re: Can't visualize how to use this mold

Easiest of all.....paint it with acrylics and seal it with a spray sealer. That way you could use bright colors and not worry about glazes.

The new blanket was handy and stiffer that the old....so i just went for it. At this point in my glass career i do not want to put alot of $ ou...

Re: Genesis lg format kiln

Bonnie We removed the side blankets and the front wall. When you remove them notice how they are folded to fit without cutting them. The bottom edge is folded under to make itndouble thick with a nice curved solid edge. I was lucky that i had a large roll of blanket on hand from my pottery days. The...

Re: A different kiln cooling question

I am with Bob...but not higher then 500F and not with anything thicker then 1/4" work....and not on tack fused....combed or pot melts.
I can get away with a half inch stilt at 500 and it will speed it up alot safely on 1/4" thick work.

Re: Car wax and glass rags

Why take the chance? Wash them in Hot! I spent $3.00 at goodwill recently and bought a bunch of old t mens tshirts and cut them up. They have turned out to be my favoite rags. They have been washed so many times in their life that there is no lint at all.......clean beautifully! I gather all my stud...

Re: plaster

Thanks! I do know the air compressor trick. My problem project was pottery plaster to pottery plaster with mold soap in between....... Obviously i will do more next time! Mold soap alone did not work.

Hmmmmmm.....dunk in water.......so do you "dunk" the mold then paint on the slip? Let it dry then spray? Interesting. I never hear about the dunk!

Never thought of paint first. So that sort of seals the plaster?

Re: how to support glass for this mold?

It would be easy enough to make a clay slab and alter it on this stainless steel shape to make the shape you like........Just make real sure the bottom is flat or cut it out and make it "Bottomless"!!
