Re: Lettering
A simple way is to put letter on the glass, spinkle frit power around and over them. Remove the letter and they will be the color of the background glass. I have used "foam" letters from Michaels. I pick them up with a thumb tack. Put out the entire name in foamies...sprinkle well......car...

Re: Combing cracked, can I refire to anneal?
If you are going to take that back up to full fuse personally i would heat it up at 100 degrees an hour to 800 then 250 to full fuse. Follow Pattys anneal. She know lg 96. I would add one more cycle to cool till 600 slowly though.

Re: Cleaning your Molds
If they do get scratched just apply more wash. Maybe you are confusing them with casting molds where you do need to clean them between castings.

Re: Pattern Bar Slices
if you have a sandblaster that is the way to go.......we do not so we use our flat lap to clean all the surfaces. as far as thickness.....if you are doing a piece where you want clean geometric lines all the same thickness would be best. If it is not then they will be fine if there are differences.....

Re: Which molds?
I make all of my molds on the potters wheel so they are all round. Each one is one of a kind with different lips. You actually get the one in the photo on our site. As far as square molds go.....i think the best bet is to make one out of fiberboard.....cutting a hole in the center and lightly sandin...

Re: Purple polka dotted kiln wash
I think it must be something in the kiln wash that is not disolving completely......I would not worry about it and fire away........if you sand it off you will just have to reapply it. Personally we prefer Bullseye wash. Have fun with the molds!

Re: Which molds?
That is why we make molds especially for slumping that are bottomless!! I hand throw them with a variety of sizes and lips. Here is an example. They last forever!! I started making them after getting very frustrated by commercial molds that not only cracked easily but also the rocking bottoms. spec ...

Re: Using a Ceramic Kiln for Warm Glass - Anyone Using Baffl
Depends on the size of the shelf and what you are firing. Experiment and keep notes. You may find the bottom shelf is cooler and perfect for textural relief pieces....... or they may all fire the same if spaced well.

Re: Using a Ceramic Kiln for Warm Glass - Anyone Using Baffl
Jennifer... I would try 250 hr to 1250 hold till looks done..anneal....maybe no hold at all. Depends on shapes. Do a test load and see how that goes. Be sure to space your shelves well. I don't know what shape or size your shelves are but be sure to have your larger pieces towards the center of the ...

Re: Using a Ceramic Kiln for Warm Glass - Anyone Using Baffl
Just be sure to put at least 6" stilts between your shelfs to get good air and heat flow and you will be fine. The only thing I do not fire in my side fire kilns is large pieces where the sides will heat up before the center causing bubbles galore. Anything 10" or smaller is a go for me. I...

I go to tap plastics.....go thru their scrap box and cut them up. I end up with a box that can last a long time for around $20.
