I drill lots of holes when I am making my wind chimes. I use the Dremel mounted in the Dremel drill press. I run it on the highest speed and use the up and down motion already suggested. My drill bits come from wherever I can find them cheap. I use anything that has diamond on the bottom. They come ...

Lood and see if you have a round button somewhere on the motor. If you do press it in and see if it resets. It may be hard to push so don't give up too easily.

I had often wondered after seeing pictures of commercial wet belt sanders, if they were good at water control. My homemade unit is not messy and does not leave puddles of water, maybe I should go into the
wet belt sander business.

I use a 4X36 sander I got from Harbor Freight. I put a shield on the back, made a pan for the bottom and put a water sprayer on back that is controlled by a solonoid. Using silicon carbide belts it works great and only cost me the eighty five dollars I paid for the sander since I already had the res...

Ron,
Thanks for the reply. I did as you suggested and it came out really
well. I calibrated it if freezing water and boiling water and it came out
right on the money. Have not tried it in the kiln yet but will probably do
that tomorrow or the next day.

Thermocouple question

I bought some thermocouples that were not welded on the end. Is there
something I need to do to these wires other than just weld them together
with a torch and some flux? Is there any kind of a trick to the process?

Kiln wash mix

I saw in the archive several different mixes for kiln wash, is the mixture
according to weight or volume?

Go to the Omega site. They have pretty near anything you could want
in thermocuples, plus have some good theory thrown in if you want it.

Thanks,
I did not realize that glass wanted to be 1/4 inch. I will try again using
two layers. So far I have some interesting sun catchers so all is not lost.

fusing

I am new to fusing and am having a hard time getting two pieces to fuse
all the way across. It usually fuses at the top and bottom and leaves a
gap in the middle. Do the pieces have to be perfectly touching to fuse?
I am taking it to 1450 degrees, do I need to go higher?
