I like it. The design, the colours, the complexity. How did it fight you?

Re: Shaping using grinder leaves marks

For pendants and small pieces, I only use an old grinding heads that have pretty much been worn down. Takes a little more time as it doesn't cut as quickly but it also doesn't leave the marks. As well as keeping it wet and like Valerie, I scrub with a scotch pad and soap under hot running water. Dry...

Re: how do I use Hanovia gold?

Can the Essence which I've used for cleaning with 2 bottles of Hanovia Gold be used for anything, like tinting?

Re: need inspiration........

Read some House and Home design mags, like Verandah, Elle Decor, House and Home, etc. The combination of colours and patterns use in carpets, cushions, and other accessories often give me some ideas.

Re: My bowl didn't fully slump.

Hi Celene, Didn't know that about the Bonnie Glo, but like Dana I've always thought you needed the air circulation around the glass??? When you use other solid bottom molds do you prop them off the floor? Good that you've been doing some reading, believe me, you've only started. Have you read the BE...

Re: My bowl didn't fully slump.

I made a 9" square bowl, with a 2" lip, making the bowl part a 5" square. I used 2 layers of System 96 clear glass that I had previously fused. I made a mold from 1" thick KL board, shaped like a frame so that the bowl would slump down to the kiln floor, however, it did not full...

Re: Moving a large piece into the kiln

Place your kiln shelf on your workbench beside your piece, making sure it is level with your piece. Use a piece of stiff paper or plastic thin and wide enough to slide and pull under your work then slide it onto the shelf and holding the ss ring firm pull out this paper.

Great colours, how many holes in the pot? Was it a pot or stainless steel mesh? Makes me crave a sherbet ice cream cone. Well done.

Re: New work for 2013 shows

I like the first one and the organic rim works with the design. I think the second and third pieces would benefit from cold working the edges, because of the design a nice polished sharp edge would make them really stand out.

Re: sudden, mysterious 'film' on glass

You've got glass disease in the traditional Blaschka format. The glass, whatever you used in it will continue to atmospherically corrode and eventually fall apart. Might take a few years but the piece is a toast. Kevin, I checked Blaschka in Wikipedia and did not find anything referring to glass di...

Re: sudden, mysterious 'film' on glass

Picked the following off another site. I thought Spray A worked at a lower temp the Super Spray, so maybe might work. If it does flatten, could you reslump? Hotline Spray A Plus by Hotline The original popular Spray A has been reformulated and is now 100 percent lead-free. It is a clear, low melting...

Bonnie, although your piece is perfect, could you sandblast it, then reslump which would give you a matte finish?

Re: Expandable drums

Bob, I used this before I bought a WBS, still do for a quick job on small pieces. Maybe you could pick up a used one on ebay or Craigs list.

You could buy the parts from most lapidary supply stores.
