Re: Some new work

These remind me of paintings (oil on canvas) I was doing in the 50s and 60s. Yours are much more successful, though.

Re: Finally some new images from my Tropical Woman series

Believe it or not I still haven't gotten a gallery show together. I got somewhat discouraged talking to Doug Randall and Roger Thomas about the current state of the gallery business.

Re: Uroboros Residency

Nicely lit. I've been trying to come up with lighting ideas for a show of transparent work. I'd love to see them finished. They look great.

Re: Finally some new images from my Tropical Woman series

Have you tried hanging the glass about 12-18" in front of a white wall with strong light thrown up or down the wall's surface?
I have seen glass displayed like that at shows. Most of the pieces in my house are in actual windows. Two are in light boxes.

Jen, These are indeed transparent. That will be a challenge when it comes to finding the right gallery space. A couple of them are in light boxes but I'm hoping for backlighting of another kind.

you get what you pay for.
By the way Kevin this stuff's not cheap. It has its uses and works in ways the would be impossible for dichro glass.

Re: Dichro Slide

My wife Margaret uses Dichroslide a lot and prefers the look under a thin layer of clear. She has sandwiched it between several layers. Just like dichro glass the look is different (brighter) under clear glass.

Re: Finally some new images from my Tropical Woman series

By the way here's a step-by-step for Gita. I photographed her recently at a tipi celebration. I started with light blue glass trying to capture the light refecting on her face The brown color is Persian red over the blue. The devise on either side of the border is the flag colors of South Africa sin...

Finally some new images from my Tropical Woman series

Here are the two most recent pieces. I am working larger since I have the Bigger kiln. The first one "Himba" was over 24" high but the border got cracked from a chip during the coldworking. I cut the whole thing off and now it's 13" x 20" Gita is 17" x 22".
