Elizabeth~ Welcome to Maine! Yes, it's true that we have mosquitos, black flies, and mud season! Our summers are short but it's great to see the tope of Mount Washington, NH, when swimming in the lake in the summer! As Bert said, Maine, the way life should be! I work in Portland and live in Y...

Brad,

I went to the site to confirm my purchase and was unable to complete it! It said, "Page cannot be displayed." This was the address the link connected to

Milled Graphite as a Mold?

Has anyone tried to use milled graphite as a mold? Can graphite withstand repeated use and 1500F firings?

I would like to make calibrated pieces for jewlery and am not sure which would be the best approach in doing so.

Thanks, Sonje

Chip, I apologize for spelling it wrong...it should be 'Uffda'.

Prounounced (OOF-Dah), means WOW!, OH NO!, WHOOPS!, Or GOOD GRIEF! It is a mild Scandinavian expletive, don't worry. I think it's less obscene than many other expletives!

Chip, do you mean Ufda? As a teen, I lived in Oslo, Norway and I can still get away with saying it when needed!

Alice,
I really enjoyed looking at your website. Your pieces are very unique!
The sterling bails that you use, are they attached to the back with epoxy or silicone or do you fuse them directly in the piece?

Thanks,
Sonje

Cadia, I took my first fusing glass with Nancy at UGotGlass last October! She'll teach you the ins and outs too! I found it to be well worth it! She can also get you started with the supplies and glass. Just be careful, it can be addictive! :D She's probably the closest to you too! There are several...

Using fine silver bezel and to get a flat back, form a "P" shape, and fuse the tail of it right in the glass. If you want the bail to be centered over the tail, use a mandrel or chain nose pliers to form the bail and the bend the tail so it's centered under the loop. In short, it should lo...

Out of curiousity, has anyone tried to use dichro in their pot melts? I am assuming that you would lose any "pattern" but I'm not sure if you would lose the dichroic aspects of the glass...I would experiment but I'm waiting for the electrician to come and do some necessary wiring so I can ...

Lauren, thanks for the site! It's actually the easiest to navigate that I've seen in awhile. Does she sell wholesale! How are the shipping costs to the east coast? By the way, I received my 2 pounds of dichro from your ebay safe and sound...what a selection too! Thanks! Sonje :D

Buying a Kiln

I'm looking for some guidance from the Board before investing in a new kiln. I currently am using a Paragon SC-3 (0.28 cu ft) and it's great but much too small. I had a great conversation with Marty at Centre DeVerre this afternoon and am looking at a few different kilns. I'd appreciate your comment...
