Top temperature for Ferro Sunshine enamels

Hello!
If you have used Ferro Sunshine enamels ...

what is the temperature required for the enamels to just ADHERE to glass?
the enamels will be applied to one sheet of float glass in a first firing.
I would aporeciate your recommendations

Re: small crack in a fused piece

This piece was done by fusing and sagging in one firing. Usually, when I fire for the second time, I add another sheet of glass on top of the original piece and more colors if necessary before firing to 1508 F . The additional sheet helps in preserving the brightness. The piece becomes heavier after...

Re: small crack in a fused piece

Hi Judd I used 2 sheets of Egyptian float glass 4mm in thickness . It has a nice satin look even when in direct contact with the mold. For the purple I used ferro enamel produced in Spain . I would never get the same beautiful result with ferro produced in the USA. My target temperature was 1508 Feh...

small crack in a fused piece

Hello

I made a large fused glass piece but it hit something hard and I found a small crack in it. The UV device I have only binds 2 separate pieces but not cracks. Is there any way to fix that without putting the piece into the kiln for a second time . I appreciate your comments and suggestions.

The right torch for bullseye rods

I tried to make little leaves using bullseye rods. I used a dual-fuel torch (oxygen and propane), but the glass colors changed and the clear glass rod turned greyish. Is a single fuel torch better with soft glass ?

Re: glass vase using crystal

Hi and sorry for the late reply

I wish it was easy to use Gaffer but the weight and custom duties are very prohibitive. I used a local brand of clear lead crystal,(crystal Asfour) and added my own frits from Bullseye.
Red lead crystal was successful but was not transparent enough.

glass vase using crystal

Hello I have a sculptured vase ready for casting. I would like to use colorless crystal and add frit to crystal pieces to obtain a colored vase. So far, i had a good chance with light and dark blues and greens . Reds and yellows turn grey because of the lead content of crystal. Have you ever experim...

Re: Slumping small and large projects together

On a second thought, I did all draping together, and will do the slumping separately. Don's opinion was supported by many colleagues- and I will post photos.

Re: Slumping small and large projects together

I am trying to save time because I am participating in a big event in March. Slumping piece by piece is a luxury, but thanks for your advice.

Re: Slumping small and large projects together

The depth of the molds vary from a simple square plate to bowls 12 cm deep but they have fairly simple shapes. I am also draping glass over a vase and I used float glass previously fused with ferro enamels.

Slumping small and large projects together

Hello
I would like to slump glass projects of different diameters - ranging from 20 to 45 cm together in one kiln. I have slumped only small pieces one by one in a smaller kiln. Now I would like to load a larger kiln to slump previously fused pieces. Is this feasible ?

Re: fusing a long vase

Hi Fiona, hope all is well dear Yes, I tried to do everything in one firing, but as you said, I will have to fuse, then slump. I have seen very long pieces achieved in one firing at the Glass Art museum in Cairo (where I learned fusing) , but the mold had very deep sculptured lines which prevented t...

Re: fusing a long vase

Hello ! there is no misunderstanding. 1436 is the final temperature necessary for a full fuse of Saint Gobain glass. Maybe this is one of the reasons why the project was not so successful in my early experiments.
